THIS STATION IS NOW OPERATIONAL
2 of the best Hardcore/Punk/Art Rock bands reforming and playing the same weekend is pretty orgasmic. I just hope Cedric and Omar still bring the energy.
Swallow your refills.

I truly love At the Drive-In. But I'm afraid they'll suck live.
I'll be disappointed if they don't suck live.
RAPE STOVE
white power?!
Why? They were always known as a fairly good live act. The only differences that I'd expect from their old YouTube videos are:
Cedric probably won't climb or throw things, now.
They have different hair.
Cedric might put more effort into his live vocals than he used to.
Omar might put more effort into his instrumentals.
Jim will still be awesome.
Tony should be thrilled to be making money finally.
Something something Paul's bass skills.
*based upon tedious fact checking.
Different hair? Pass.
5/25-5/27: MOVEMENT DETROIT
6/6: The Field @ The Independent
6/26: Colin Stetson @ The Chapel
Didn't 2-3 members of ATDI band perform together at Coachella in 2011?
Interesting way to promote a new Mars Volta album released 3 weeks prior to Coachella weekend #1.
I wonder the set list is going to look like? I hope it's not all from relationship of command.

At first I was convinced this was definitely a sell out move for these guys (and I still am), but I'm definitely excited to finally see them. Then after they get that out of their systems, The Mats Volta can get back to business.
"It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge"
Really? My ideal ATDI set would include that album in it's entirety.
The setlists from the tour before they broke up usually looked something like this:
Arcarsenal
Embroglio
Pattern Against User
Lopsided
Rascuache
Sleepwalk Capsules
One Armed Scissor
Metronome Arthritis
Cosmonaut
Invalid Litter Dept.
Chanbara
198D
Napoleon Solo
Catacombs
While I love the album as much as any other of their releases, I want them to play songs from all their albums and some of their EPs. I just fear that since relationship of command is their most popular album the set will be comprised mainly of songs from that. That set you posted is pretty good.

I can't really see them playing anything prior to In/Casino/Out to be honest...Not that there's anything wrong with that material, but Paul and Tony weren't on the first album or early EPs(they even did one without Jim), so I don't think they'd be too excited to be playing those songs during their reunion show.
As far as songs not on that setlist, I'd absolutely love to hear Hourglass.
I honestly couldn't care less if the only reason they reunited was for money. If money is the only thing getting them back together and playing songs then so be it.
Honestly i would have spent three hundred bucks for a ticket to see them live in another country... im just happy that they said yes to what ever amount that was agreed on to play as a band again.... relationship was the best for me but if the play songs from in casino out i would be very pleased with the set list.....

This reformation ( along with Refused ) was the impetus for my friends & I to make the journey from Australia . They actually pulled out of a tour just prior to playing my city when they last toured Oz so after that disappointment I was determined not to miss them this time !
Here's hoping it is worth all the expense ! I'm pretty sure I will have a blast either way...
As long as we get anything of Vaya then it'll be good
Friday: Stone Roses, YYY, Modest Muse, Grinderman, Beach House, Japandroids, Foals, Four Tet, Aesop Rock, Alt-J, TNGHT, Seth Troxler, Purity Ring, DJ Harvey, Jamie XX
Saturday: Sigur Ros, New Order, Hot Chip, Grizzly Bear, Descendents, SMD, Spiritualized, The Make-Up, Richie Hawtin, 2 Bears
Sunday: Nick Cave, Wu-Tang, Tame Impala, James Blake, Grimes, the Faint, Dino Jr, Paul Kalkbrenner, Disclosure, Cloud Nothings, Thee oh Sees, Smith Westerns, Kurt Vile
Anything like that setlist would be good, as long as they play Napoleon Solo and Invalid Litter Dept. then I will be happy. I agree that anything before In/Casino/Out in unlikely, especially as Omar was the bassist on Acrobatic Tenement. He can get his bass fix with Le Butcherettes.
Why would they have different hair? They (O+C) let it get crazier during the TMV days of 2004-2006, but I expect it will be similar to the ATDI days. I hope Omar puts in no extra effort than he used to and that Cedric does still throw stuff about. Here's hoping as soon as they hit these tracks they regress 12 years to those days.
