I love Destroyer. I mean, like my favorite artist. This was my second favorite album of last year, and pretty much my favorite album of all time is Streethawk: A Seduction. That being said, I saw him play at the Troubador in Hollywood last year and the live show was uninspiring. It really felt like he didn't want to be there, read a lot of the song lyrics off pieces of paper, and would often just sing off to the side of the stage while pacing around. Also, the saxophone solos were on overload, though that is his new albums sound. I think I am going to have a hard time convincing myself to skip this set though, the man is too talented and the music is too good.

I just can't seem to put down Your Blues, it's my go to album. I missed out on his show at Webster Hall last April due to it selling out. The War On Drugs opened too, which I'm now kicking myself for.

I have never seen him live, but this sentiment is what I've heard from friends who have. I was really excited to see him on the lineup until I was reminded that it's not a super impressive live set.

Well, I can't say that the above comments are encouraging. But I have been waiting to see him for too long, and I'm going to have to catch at least a partial set.

His "attitude" is pretty similar when he plays with the New Pornographers. I think that's just what you're gonna get.

I saw Destroyer with War On Drugs last winter and actually dug the set. The music is pretty yacht rock chill so I'm not sure what some people are expecting live, it's not like it's going to turn into a face meltingly energetic show. I think the vibe of Destroyer and the fantastic songs on Kaputt fits in perfectly with the sunny Coachella atmosphere!

If he's not very good live, he shouldn't have a band as powerful as The War on Drugs open for him.

Think the problem I had with his live concert was "over-expectation". Came into the Spaceland Destroyer (Frog Eyes opened) 'Your Blues'-era show thinking it would evoke the same feel as the album, a brilliantly glamorous over-the-top metropolitan record of the grandest scale. But there was Dan standing stationary, cept to squat down between songs to sip a beer, with eyes closed barely acknowledging the audience. The fierce, bitingly confident romantic character he delivered on record was nowhere to be found in the building. An Actor's Revenge indeed.

I still like em alot, on record. Would still most likely watch the Kaputt show for all the horns. Maybe close my eyes too.

Ah yes. The Kaputt video. I watched that briefly before rolling my eyes and deleting his name off of my poster yesterday.

This is still one of my most anticipated sets despite the lackluster live reviews. At least in the video posted above the instrumentation sounds great, his delivery does sound very lazy though.

Anyone know the set list for weekend 2? I'm pretty sure the tune they closed with was from Streethawk and it rocked but I can't remember which song.

When he said that the crowd should check out Kaskade I was laughing so hard. It was about the only thing he said to the crowd.

Such good vibes dancing in the sun. He's definitely not very engaging live, but his voice sounded great and the band did as well.
