hows his new stuff sound?
the music is what its all about, you love it just like i love it.
That's because he didn't. His set was actually my biggest disappointment of the weekend because a lot of the songs he played have been in his festival sets over the past 6-12 months. Check out his Sasquatch set for last year and you'll see what I mean. There was some new stuff I hadn't heard before sprinkled in which was good (a little more like Los Angeles than Cosmogramma), but the "debuting entire album in full" sadly did not happen.

nah he never said he was going to do the whole thing, just that he would play some new songs from it, which he did. And they sounded fantastic. I believe he played at least three new ones.
Second favorite set of the weekend for me. I didn't think he'd be able to top his 2010 set, but he did. He interspersed his trippy introspective shit and the more upbeat bangers perfectly. Ending with "Hard In The Paint" made me lose my shit.
Edit: oh and seeing Earl come out, look really sheepish and then put on his glasses before walking off was pretty funny. Apparently Dre was watching this set from the side as well.

shit was weak.
This ain't no middle of the mall shit.
Yeah so I gave flylo another chance after being underwhelmed at treasure island. I am officially not a fan this stuff sucks. Visuals were the most amateur of the weekend. Music is just random and you cant groove into it.

This was amazing, you guys are dumb. The "Hard In The Paint" remix at the end was bananas.
Where are people getting the "whole album" claim from? I read that he was debuting his new album, but I didn't think that meant it would be the entire thing.
PS: This set was amazing.
was i the only person who didn't think it was loud enough? that was my biggest disappointment, but other than that flylo killed it
New tracks were fantastic but I lost my shit when he played this Two Fingers track. I had to skip out on them at the Do Lab for Flying Lotus because they were running late but this made up for it well enough.
FFFIIIIINNAAALLLLLYYYYYY
I only say underwhelming because I was expecting more with this new album debut (which most of it were tracks I already heard). That and the constant "IS THAT ODD FUTURE!!!???" bullshit totally ruined the vibe. It started to get to Gaslamp Killery when that shit happened.
Overall, it was a good set. It just happened to be mostly predictable. Give me his DEMF 2009 set over this shit ANY DAY.
DID HE PLAY DO THE ASTRAL PLANE???

6/6: The Field @ The Independent
6/26: Colin Stetson @ The Chapel
Some of you are crazy. That set was so good. I was expecting more from the new album, but that didn't matter. Perfect balance of remixes, old songs and new songs. Visuals were good too, loved the lights on the tent. My #2 for the weekend.
I wasn't 35 - 40 feet from the Gobi when I started movin and groovin to the sweet sounds that were pouring out provided by Flying Lotus! After two years of missing his shows... I finally caught one! It was amazing. I lost my shit. too good. damn.

Maybe it was because i saw Flying Lotus right after Jeff Mangum blew me away, but, i thought He was really shitty sounding. i was really excited for his set, but it totally let me down. I enjoyed his 2010 set too.
FlyLo has forever changed the way I look at DJ'ing/DJ's. He set the bar, and I dont think anyone in the near future will be able to touch it. I would hand the title of best DJ from Andy C to FlyLo now, but I feel calling FlyLo a DJ at this point wouldnt do it justice. Whatever he was doing with sound worked, and it worked damn well.
It wasn't that his set was bad, it was quite good. It's just the exact same set he's been playing for over a year, with a couple new tracks (tracks we've already heard) mixed in for a minute or two. That was disappointing given his claims of debuting a new album at that set. And he spent way too much time talking about Odd Future. Who gives a fuck about Earl Sweatshirt? I mean, besides 19 year-olds?
He's usually hyper-focused and I feel like the set turned into a circus midway through due to all the losers from Odd Future hanging out on the stage. I'm not hating, I still had a lot of fun, it just wasn't nearly as good as it could/should have been if he didn't stop to talk every 90 seconds.
flylo smashed it. sorry haters. hard in the paint was the perfect end.
His set wasn't bad, but I was expecting something different from what he's been touring over the past year or two.

As someone who had been wanting to see flylo for at least a year and finally did this weekend, i thought he was fucking awesome. if he has played better sets then that, I will be seeing him many more times in the future!
