    Default The Big Pink 2012!

Gotta love the Big Pink, they have such energy and amazing talent. Another band proving that such great music eminates from the UK.

Not yet, sorry. I have limited time on my hands. So many bands to check out, from Girls Names to Crocodiles, Nucular Aminals to the Holiday Crowd.

Love these guys. Last time they were opposite Thom Yorke. At least this time there's no chance of a Radiohead/Big Pink conflict.

Really looking forward to this after missing them last time. 4AD just posted a set from them:

Ahead of the release of their second album, Future This, The Big Pink have recorded a set of five songs as part of the 4AD Sessions series. Bringing to life the anthemic qualities of the new album, the session is a showcase of the unabashed step towards stadium dynamics the band have made on Future This, while also displaying the often-curveball influences that continue to underpin their best work.

Filmed in 3 Mills Studios, the location was to have a coincidental resonance with the music. Based on Three Mill Island in Bromley-by-Bow, the island is London's oldest surviving industrial centre with evidence to suggest that the mills it houses were listed in the Domesday Book. The grand historical associations and JG Ballard-esque setting appears fitting of the darkened, industrial undertones that course through even the most pop moments of The Big Pink's music. Channeling the epic, immersive and otherworldy feel of the new album, the stark backdrop of the warehouse-like space was coupled with lasers used in a structural way to frame the band and change the physical surroundings.
Playing several tracks from Future This, alongside spiritual cousin 'Velvet', taken from the first album, the session captures what makes The Big Pink such an intriguing band. Effortlessly moving between the outré sounds of the underground and their love for shameless pop hooks, the band display the full scale of their creative ambitions

Really excited for this one too. They were one of my favorite discoveries of 2010, and I ended up missing them.

They were great in 2010. Looking forward to seeing them again.

The Big Pink also do very provocative interviews, although I did not like how they dissed the Beatles and the Kinks in an early interview.

Crocodiles are definitely worth checking out. They're a solid San Diego band.

I will be at their set. I love A Brief History of Love and I will make up for not seeing them two years ago.

It was unfortunate that they were against Thom Yorke in 2010, but I was happy to have them as a good reason to escape the annoying MGMT fans (with their fucking train of handholding and feathers) that had descended on the Outdoor. At least that's how I remember it, anyway.

But I digress.... The Big Pink are another band who is tight (and usually loud) live. If you can't see them here, by all means see them in a club.

I actually didn't really dig their Coachella set last time. I had seen them the fall before that at the El Rey and they KILLED it. At Coach I chose Thom Yorke over them of course, didn't end up really feeling Yorke's set, rolled into Yann Tiersen's set that totally murdered me, and then when he was finished, walked over to the Big Pink's set. Wasn't feeling the tail end of it, probably because of how good Tiersen had just been. I tend to like their harder stuff more than the poppier songs like Dominos.

I know, the lead singer of Crocodiles is with the lead singer of the Dum Dum Girls.

Velvet and Dominos were absolute stand-outs in a disappointing set that was brutally loud.

I just went through Future This and there wasn't a single track that grabbed me where I knew I had to hear them play it live. Granted I loved Dominos and Velvet too.

REALLY hoping to see them, just praying they're not on early in the day.

Dominos and Stay Gold are pretty solid but I can't get into the rest.
