Ha. I was on the rail dead center.
Ha. I was on the rail dead center.
The Rolling Stones - International Noise Conference: Los Angeles - Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - Austra - Colin Stetson - The Pacific Rim Projekt - The National - Goat Rodeo - Hopscotch 2013- GY!BE - Beirut/Vampire Weekend
I was center but 2 or 3 rows of people back..
Don't worry, it wasn't you
Anyway I can understand why people were singing loudly, Jeff specifically said to "sing as loud as you can", I just thought it was common sense not to sing louder than Jeff could be heard.

I liked the loud sing alongs from weekend 1. We saw him twice in New Jersey at ATP Festival last year and you
could hear a pin drop the entire show. So it was nice to let it out this time and sing. Hope its similar tomorrow
for the LA show, at least for some of the songs.
Some songs, sure. I'd be most happy if it were quiet the whole time. But some light singing wouldn't bother me and would maybe even be addititive.

So glad this weekend we got True Love Will Find You In The End and Naomi accompanied by violin! and yes that was great when Jeff made sure to get that girl help. and it was amazing that i was against the railing center stage.
^^^ this x 1000.
Much rather hear people singing along than chatting
Set of the weekend? I'd say so. He was SO much more powerful than when I saw him at ATP last year, and the horns were a great addition. The crowd around me was singing along the whole time and knew every single word. His facial contortions during Oh Comely were spectacular.
haha i was standing next to that guy trying sing louder than Jeff, shit was so annoying especially since it seemed he was trying to match Jeff's voice and was failing miserably. around the 4th song some dude with dread locks pushed his way right in front of him to about the 3rd row and as soon as the guy tried singing loudly again Dread Lock bro turned around and shushed him.
I was singing loudly at jeff mangum, but I thought that was what we were supposed to do. To me, Jeff's music isn't something you can hoard all to yourself and keep it forever. I loved it when everyone was singing along to the more well known songs because it felt like this was music that can bring all these people that don't know each other together, because they have the words and melodies of his songs all in common. everyone who is bitching about people singing loudly needs to realize that it's not music that they can just keep to themselves.
connor ford if your reading this, its kelly.

Ahhhh Jeff Mangum was so amazing!
Before he started, my boyfriend nudged me and pointed to the guy in front of me, who had a giant tear through his pants and boxers. We started quietly giggling (mature, I know) and the guy he was with noticed us laughing, so my boyfriend said "now that's a rip in the pants!" or something like that and the other guy said "he's had a rough day". We could not stop laughing. If any of you are that guy, thanks for the entertainment.
Can someone tell me why some people had their pinky up in the air?
so fucking retarded....
Anyway, I caught his whole set weekend 1
and a bit of weekend 2
Definitely one of the highlights of the festival

I really underestimated how amazing this set was going to be. Had me near tears during a few songs.
05-12.2
I was on the rail on the left of the stage, slightly in front of bmack.
I dunno about you all, but it seemed like everyone around me was singing. I mean, maybe my friend and I were just really loud. Or maybe it was substances making me THINK people were singing. Either way, I had a blast at the set. Snapped some covert photos, too.
Jeff is such a considerate performer.
Erm....
Violin.
Cello.
Think about what you saw and then report back to me which instrument it was.
LA show last night had an amazing set (audio recorded all but two songs) but the crowd SUCKED. No one was emotionally into it, no one around me in the balcony cheered for the "On Avery Island" jams and NO ONE was singing. Older guy next to me told me to stop crying because it was distracting him (I wasn't being loud, just sniffling a bit) and these 15 year olds on a date were so pissed at me for singing all of "Song Against Sex." (They sucked; I heard them say to every non-Aeroplane song, "Is this a new song from a new album?" or some variant. Stupid fucking kids.)
I'll upload the LA show tonight.
Ah, never mind then. There was a guy to my right that looked like you and when everyone swayed together I had my arms around my girlfriend and he grabbed me saying "YOURE IN THIS TOO BUDDY!" and forced me to sway. It was pretty awesome, he was really stoked and knew all the lyrics.
