Also I kind of want to know, after reading that article, what the fuck someone is doing involved in dance music when they're like "I can't play house music for two hours"...

Wow that Deadmau5 rant is bad.

For me though this is a guy in a light-up mousehead talking shit about David Guetta (or, perhaps, Avicii). On the map of the dance music universe this is the point furthest from a marathon Danny Tenaglia house set in a loft.

It literally makes NO sense. Is his symbol a giant head? No...Is that the cover of one of his EP's or albums (lol he doesn't have any albums)? No...what the FUCK does it mean?

People keep posting it and I certainly don't think it's a terrible article but I really don't get it. People who know dance music already know about the stuff in that article and Avicii fans are not going to read that and give up on their rager lifestyles.

Maybe not instantly, no... but it could be a piece in the evolution for the fraction of those kids that will ultimately grow to appreciate better music.

I did a dramatic reading of the OP at a drug party in Iowa (in January) and it was a huge hit.

Because you never liked shitty music? I know plenty of people who started off listening to Oakenfold, Tiesto, PVD back in the day whose tastes have all matured since then.

Perhaps more importantly, EDM has found a home in the festival circuit. Concert promoters like AEG, the parent company of Coachella producer Goldenvoice, discovered that they could tap into the burgeoning electronic scene by adding top DJs to their lineups—and what started out as a sideshow soon became the main attraction.

“The Coachella music festival served as microcosm in the evolution of electronic dance music from a niche into a mainstream format,” says AEG chief Randy Phillips. “EDM translates more successfully as a consumer experience in the open field festival environment or in a general admission [or] flat floor venue than it does in large arenas with fixed seats. Efforts to tour EDM stars in arenas across North America have proven to yield uneven results outside of a handful of major markets.”

Oakenfold late 90s does not deserve to be compared to Tiesto at any point. Listen to Live at Ibiza or in Shanghai china, those are classic trance albums

RS is fucked in the head of course but that list does highlight the inherent sexism in the Saharatard world. Fully 8% of their list is female. Does it require a penis to spin the untz?

This is one instance where RS isn't significantly out of step with the rest of the world, unfortunately. Pretty sure RA/Beatport/whatever lists would have a similar percentage of females showing.
