Coleurs was borderline atrocious when I saw them on this tour. I'm tired of my favorite bands destroying their own music.
Are you still going to see them, conflicts pending, B? Shaking your head in disapproval?

Midnight City has more of a pop flavor...I still really like it though. I would go to Coachella for M83 alone. What a perfert place to hear their music...I imagine the sun setting...feeling it cool down. I'm so excited!

I'm assuming sets have mainly been HUWD material? It's not that bad of an album but id rather hear pretty much anything else.
they didn't bring out the sax during couleurs in the first show at club nokia, so it was still really good
I would be shocked if they were in a tent. In terms of current airplay and sales, the only act on Friday that is bigger is the Black Keys. No one else on that lineup is even close. I don't think they were intended to be a sub-headliner, but it wouldn't surprise me to see them go on before the Black Keys.
I compare M83's newfound mainstream popularity to Phoenix's. Albeit Phoenix had two hits on the radio, but M83 can release another successful follow-up single to "Midnight City." I expect him to get a similar slot as Phoenix in 2010, and it will be glorious.
I'ma ball at the mall shuttin' down the sea wall
First off, yes to the above. Second, I am hoping for a night-time set...LIGHT SHOW!
I doubt M83 will be on the main, especially right before The Black Keys. If they do end up on the main, it would be late-day/early evening, before Arctic Monkeys and Pulp. I defintely agree with their mainstream appeal being big enough for them to get a night-time Outdoor slot though.
I would agree with you, but I'm thinking back to when Phoenix broke through a couple years ago. They were on the Outdoor stage with crowds going back to the food concessions, while Pavement played to a few thousand fans on the main stage. I don't think GV wants a repeat of that.
I think people seeing M83 because of Midnight City are going to be disappointed, as a lot of their stuff doesn't sound like. Depending on what they decide to play, it could be a similar reaction to Animal Collective last year (which I admit to be one of the "MPP bros")
I dont expect the crowd response to M83 to be even close to what it was for Phoenix...I dont know how you could compare them besides possibly getting similar evening set times.
I'm not sure if setlist.fm is always correct, but that seems strange to play Midnight City 2 songs before their encore?
Can't wait

It sounds like darkmoon somehow thinks that "Midnight City" sounds nothing like the rest of Hurry Up, We're Dreaming, which is weird. That entire album and the last would be perfectly accessible to a casual fan of that song.

I'm hoping against hope we get more stuff like "lower your eyes...", and "too late". One can only hope.
Upcoming: 05/25/13 - Fleetwood Mac - Hollywood Bowl (Hollywood, CA); 05/29/13 - Arctic Monkeys - Sunshine Theater (Albuquerque, NM); 05/30/13 - The Postal Service - Red Rocks (Morrison, CO); Bjork performing Biophilia - 06/02/13 - Hollywood Palladium (Hollywood, CA); Bjork - 06/11/13 - Hollywood Bowl (Hollywood, CA);
anyone catch them in 05? they were one of the first acts i saw at coachella, been a fan ever since.
Listened to Hurry Up... a few days ago for the first time in a while. My enthusiasm for this set is renewed...
"Reunion" is going to be amazing, especially with all my friends surrounding me.
COACHELLA!!!
6/2 - Bjork - Hollywood Palladium
6/5 - Cut Hands - The Void
6/11 GZA - Porter's Pub
6/12 - Casey Abrams - The Griffin
6/13 - Cold Cave - The Void
6/19 - ZZ Ward - Birch Aquarium
I think this will be a big moment for M83, they'll be outdoors for sure...Mojave tent would just be stupid packed if they were in there. Put em on the outdoor theater stage and they will draw a huge audience. Can not wait to catch their set!
Come to think of it, is there any way they'd play the main stage before Pulp?
12/6: Japandroids/DIIV
1/10: Mister Lies/Matthewdavid
It's possible, but I think it's more likely that The Arctic Monkeys get that slot.
