Whiskey Sour
2 oz blended whiskey
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 tsp powdered sugar
1 cherry
1/2 slice lemon
Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.
The Music Box tweeted earlier today and Scenestar posted, but just in case you missed it, Angels & Airwaves, The Jayhawks moved to the Avalon and Dr Dog moved to the Orpheum. I'm sure they'll just do GA seats.
I'm thinking of stopping by the Blue Palms tuesday before Wilco if any board folk want to grab a drink. If it's still there by then, of course.
This is such a summer bummer.
The fact that they've only moved the next 3 shows gives me some hope that GV is still in negotiations with the owner. If an agreement is made and they can stick some equipment in there, patch up whatever the prior venue operators took out in < a month then there may be hope of watching Lucero, Cults, shows at the Music Box.
As negotiations drag out, I would expect that every 1-2 weeks we'll hear additional announcements of a handful of more shows being moved.
Is there any RECENT news on this venue? After all, Nada Surf is still scheduled to play there in March.
Maybe it isn't closing after all...Mogwai just got scheduled there. I think it was just temporary. Or at least I hope.
Wow, I just noticed this. I sure hope this isn't the end for that place. I really like that venue and have had fun times with some of you at Blue Palms.
My favorite moment there ever:
Skeet skeet
Great news if true.
The Rolling Stones - International Noise Conference: Los Angeles - Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - Austra - Colin Stetson - The Pacific Rim Projekt - The National - Goat Rodeo - Hopscotch 2013- GY!BE - Beirut/Vampire Weekend
"Can't stop the music" was in the marquee a week or two ago. I think it's a sealed deal. Hollywood NEEDS this venue
best news ever
They probably have red tape to get through still. But I would think its going to work itself out as the Mogwai show in June is onsale, and will be at that venue.
YES! It lives.
FYI, yet another show is getting moved. This time Joy Formidable/APTBS, moved to the Mayan.
With the number of recent announcements for shows in April/May/June, I hope that GV is closer to an official announcement. It's less than 6 weeks away for the pre-Coachella shows. Enough time to prep a venue??? really?? I'd hate to see Kasabian or The Horrors in a venue as awesome as the Music Box but have it be a horrible experience because of the place is still gutted or doesn't have a well put together sound system. Guess i'll be sticking to the GlassHouse or El Rey shows.
I drive by it daily. All the doors were opened and people were doing STUFF there. So who knows. Granted, it MIGHT have been a music video shoot. But there was no production, just people working. Lets hope!

The Fonda Theatre will reopen its doors this week on March 17th with it's first show back featuring Feed Me. All other shows on the venues schedule will go on as planned. Goldenvoice is now the exclusive operator and promoter for the venue
