new Dirty Projectors is really great. I am getting into this album a lot easier then the other ones for some reason. "Dance For You" might be my new favorite song

Everytime I try to put on the new Dirty Projectors I get like two minutes of it and get bored or annoyed. I really liked Bitte Orca but I don't even have the mildest desire to listen to this latey.

before i go off spending $15 on band camp for this... can you tell me a little more? i'm certainly interested i just can't find a download and i want to make sure it's something i'll dig. thanks

Two of my favorites from the comp. It's a collection of New Zealand lo-fi psychedelic pop and rock. These groups were the forebears of what became the 90s and 2000s indie rock sound. There are just lots of really well-written songs there.

Found some great night driving music. Really good throwback 80s synthpop type stuff, the main difference between this and everything else from this year in that vein being that this actually sounds like it's from the 80s.

    LazerHawk - Visitors

    Miami Nights 1984 - Turbulence

I would just like to say that Daughn Gibson's album, All Hell, is quite possibly my favorite of the year. I love love love it. That's all for now.

I read about this one on TinyMixTapes' mid-year feature and am going to download it soon; glad to hear it's worth a listen.

The Sonnymoon album and Ep are in my opinion the most crazy original and brilliant peices of music to come out this year.

Just listened to it. An interesting listen, but I didn't care for it much.

Fair warning: my best friend said he hated that album the first two times he listened to it, but then it really connected with him hard.

Old Man Gloom is a post-metal/sludge metal super group that features members of isis, Converge, Cave-In, and Zozobra. They have a new album out called No. It's really heavy and stoney and has super chunky riffs and it is fucking awesome.

Suckers - Candy Salad is pleasant enough but it pales in comparison to their first LP.

Yeah, they were great opening for Screaming Females when I first saw them as well. This show was a headlining set and they just couldn't get the crowd into it, mostly because they sounded worn out and bored.

Currently digging Holograms - s/t. Holograms are a four member (post-?)punk group from Stockholm, Sweden who just released their first LP. Really energetic and catchy, I especially love the bass lines. It's also probably safe to say they are fans of Joy Division. Has some weak points but I'll be revisiting it for sure.

Yes, absolutely. I'm loving that album.

In completely unrelated news, I've digested the Dirty Projectors enough by now and I'd say it's probably the best pop album of the year so far (as long as we don't consider the Julia Holter as a strictly pop album).

Frank Ocean's channel ORANGE is now one of my favorites this year. The instruments are very sensual and all the songs are super catchy. Its not like Nostalgia ULTRA where there were samples and homages to other music, I feel like it came from Ocean and it's definitely his thing. Earls verse was a little boring compared to his other stuff, but the song with Andre 3000 Pink Matter is insanely good. Really liking it and am excited to give it a couple more spins. IF SOMEONE WANTS TO SELL 2 GA TICKETS TO HIS SHOW AT THE WILTERN, PLEASE PM ME.

Here's a video of Bad Religion, the defining moment of the album IMO

Baroness' Yellow and Green has a very good chance of being my favorite album of the year. Third time through and loving every second of it.
