Saltillo's new album is pretty nice. Good background music for getting things done.

Waiting on Fiona.
The new Fucked Up single continues in two directions they've been pushing. First, it continues with the extended song lengths of the previous Year of the 12" releases. This one also finds them taking the restraint and melodicism that they focused on in David Comes to Life and ties it to a bigger structure. For reference, Year of the Pig is one of my favorite songs of all time. This one fell mostly flat for me. The melodies are nice and Damian is still screaming, but it seems like they've sapped almost all of the energy out of this recording. I'll be giving it more listens, but color me concerned about fucked up.
Edit: that's the A-Side. The B-Side is longer and sounds like they're been listening to Burzum quite a bit. It has potential.
The Caretaker album is so fucking good... It transports me to somewhere weird. I was like passing out/hallucinating last night listening to it.

Damn, yeah, Year of the Pig kicked ass. That was my intro to Fucked Up. I agree that Year of the Tiger wasn't nearly as impactful after one listen.
Really enjoying the new Mux Mool album that came out yesterday. Very groovy and laid back. For whatever reason you can get 2 tickets for $15 for his Seattle show on Saturday. Not too fucking bad...
The Oren Ambarchi is definitely my favorite release of the year so far. Seriously amazing and out there.

Like wmgaretjax recommended, ods, the collab with Keiji Haino and Jim O'Rourke from last year is also really great. I prefer Audience of One but the Ambarchi/Haino/O'Rourke collab gives me some great imagery when I lie down in the dark and listen to it.

Yeah I like that one as well. Really awesome.
Audience of One and Ilyas Ahmed's With Endless Fire are my 1 and 2. And as weird as it sounds I think Schoolboy Q's album is number 3 lol.

i check this thread to see if i can discover some hidden gems and i decided for some reason to check this out.i have seen the caretaker mentioned a few times recently on this board. is this what really passes for music these days?
i listened to the first three songs on his/her/their website and it is the most boring fucking shit i have heard for a long time
i am sure people on here(on this thread in particular) just post some obscure stuff on purpose to look different. i find it hard how anyone can feel anything to listening to the caretaker
the only newish artist i have checked out, who i have seen talked about on this board this year, that has been any way half decent have been cloud nothings
I don't like this so it must suck and everyone who says they're enjoying it is pretending so that others will like them. Because liking shit is sure to gain them lots of popularity.
PS: Cameron, I have liked of Montreal for a long time, but this one was difficult for me to get into. The last four tracks sealed it for me though. Though the single is the only song I'd call catchy off it.
