Just getting around to the new Julia Holter. Boy in the Moon is one of the best songs I've heard all year...Jesus. I like this one a good bit better her 2011 effort so far.

Lotus Plaza's (Lockett Pundt from Deerhunter) new record Spooky At A Distance is AMAZING. The whole album sounds along the vein of Deerhunter's Desire Lines song. It's been on repeat all day. Think it officially comes out next week on Kranky Records, definitely going to be picking up a physical copy.

The better production does them a lot of favors. The first album and subsequent singles sounded huge, but not like this.
I never quite understood it either. All of the pieces were there. If nothing else, I guess it revealed their potential.
Agreed on both counts.
I feel like Japandroids and Titus Andronicus are two bands that, if everything hits the way it should, can put on the best show anyone has ever seen. Or, at the very least, the kind of perfect rock show I fantasize about attending or playing. I really, really hope this Japandroids album blows up.
When I saw japandroids in 09 there was maybe 100 people there
. The show kicked so much ass, super nice guys too.
Japandroids at Sasquatch in 2010 is still one of my top 10 concerts of all time.

Yellow Ostrich is album of the year for me at this time. I'm like 10 listens in as many of days. Wow.

agreed on the production quality. younger us sounds like it was produced more along the lines of this single, than anything from their first album. imo - i think they sound even better this go around. here's an interesting article from p4K about JApandroids talking about their new album and the process they go through in the "studio". only so many takes and basically no overdubs. it's a pretty honest and interesting read

also, here's a new song from Sigur Ros' upcoming album that i believe is dropping at the end of may. sounds like more of their earlier stuff which is pretty awesome

Jesus, it's like a great new music leak-a-thon this week! First the excellent Lotus Plaza yesterday, new Moonface last night (huge Spencer Krug fan), and now the Chromatics record that I've been waiting forever for... goodbye outside world because it looks like besides work I'm going to be taking a sabbatical from you while processing all this.
Well, that and trying to get into the sold out Hot Snakes show tonight.

Machinedrum back with the Reworkz EP. (Under the name Dream Continuum). So fucking good if you're into bass/dnb or his other works.
Rocket Juice and the Moon has some cool moments but overall it's just ok. There are few songs that I really like though. Especially the Erykah Badu track and the track after that.
5/12 - Acid Mothers Temple - Casbah

5/19 Black Angels / Hanni El Khatib - Belly Up

I think I'd like Miike Snow a lot more if they embraced a darker vibe, like they do for a short time on the song Black Tin Box on their new album. That song is wonderful, but to me the rest of the album is just ok.

Carter Tutti Void-Transverse is on point. Really loving it so far.
I dig Chromatics so far. Thanks for the find!
The new Lotus Plaza album. Beginning to end, thoroughly fantastic. Strong contender for AOTY at this point, in my book.
