Fuckin' chicks...I Wish I Was
I am genuinely excited about the new T.I. Love that shit.
Can we just start a new thread when people actually start legitimately listening to 2012 releases? Because these are pretty much my favorite and most active threads on the board each year, and there's nothing resembling what they're supposed to be in here yet, and we're already on page 3.
5/11/12 - Cloud Cult - El Rey // 5/23/13 & 5/24/13 - Boris - Echoplex // 6/7/13 + 6/8/13 - Jubilee Music Festival
6/9/13 - Devo/GZA - Natural History Museum // 6/11/13 - Bjork - Hollywood Bowl // 6/21/13-6/23/13 - Solid Sound Music Festival - MASS MOCA

When we're on page 46 page 3 won't matter. Spooks, your cunt is dry.
What about The Knife? Aren't they releasing something?

See, even without the bickering, all this speculative bullshit is NOT what these threads are about. And I'd like it to be cleaned up because we tend to send a lot of new people to these threads.
UGH.
THANKS A LOT ASSHOLES.

What releases have you listened to so far, Drinkey? All I've checked out so far was Cloud Nothings which was great and Guided By Voices which was pretty forgettable.
I'm still catching up on 2011, so none. Which is why I'm gonna be sad when I'm ready for this thread and it's 11 pages of nonsense.
GBV is a 2011 release btw

Damn this chick won't shut up! Thank god she'll be at different night for Godspeed show....
ps Never mind about posting your pics. We don't want to see your
Patrick, when you answer my question about Lauryn Hill, I'll answer your question.
By the way, I'm listening to Ella Fitzgerald "Twelve Nights in Hollywood" right now. It's pretty pretty pretty good.
How can anyone take you seriously when you list Death Grips as your #1 album of 2011? Give me a fuckin break! I rather watch this dude sing....
She & Him Part 2
^Yes.
Grimes Visions is due Jan. I've heard about half of it and really like it although I like the old stuff as well. It's more polished and upbeat than her previous releases. There's a few tracks where the vocals sound "Asian," which I've never used to describe an album before but she does use Chinese characters on the album so maybe she was going for that. I love fade on the vocals on this track (http://www.xlr8r.com/mp3/2011/10/oblivion) at about .50 sec. In headphones it sounds like it's going in and out of my head.
Here's a snippet of a new Adam Ant track: http://adam-ant.net/mp3/hmtb.mp3. It sounds horrible.
Okay, Drinkey. I listened to Cloud Nothings' Attack Memory, and it's entirely unimpressive. I really liked their (his?) first release in 2010 and then the follow up was enjoyable but this is just gross and forced. Maybe it's me but I can already write this off as completely forgettable. I'm honestly hoping this thread doesn't start buzzing with a great 2012 review because there is so much left of 2011 that I want to spend time with.

So. 2012. Grizzly Bear, Animal Collective, Dirty Projectors. The heavy hitters from '09 make their return. So let's play a game. Exceeds expectations, meets expectations, doesn't meet expectations. Make your prediction (if you care) and apply one term to each band's upcoming album.
5/23 - Boris - Echoplex
5/24 - Boris - Echoplex
5/30 - John Talabot - Echoplex (?)
6/02 - Bjork - Palladium
6/08 - The Field - El Rey (?)

I have extremely high expectations for Grizzly Bear. With Dirty projectors, i guess it just depends on what kind of album they do...I tend to like their really experimental stuff the most, so if they veer more toward The Getty Address kind of thing I'd be extremely happy...but they're so variant from release to release, which is something i love about them.
I still haven't really gotten into Animal Collective for some reason.

Didn't you say that you expect Deerhunter to blow all three of those bands (DP included) out of the water this year, Bryan? Or have they not indicated a new record for 2012 yet?
