I have no problem being that guy. I will cheerfully laugh in the faces of pissy hipsters as I struggle to carry all that vinyl to the counter. Play fair if you want, but I'll happily secure a couple things for you if it looks like you won't make it in time. THAT, or come jump in line with me 5 minutes before open. That will REALLY piss people off hahaha

Several of my selections are going to depend on how much they actually cost. I think I can live without any of them though, so I'll, you know, show up and claim them myself.

This is what my list is looking like so far:
David Bowie - Starman 7" (picture disc)
DJ Food & Amorphous Androgynous - Illectrik Hoax (12" colored vinyl)
Jamiroquai - Rock Dust Light Star (2LP + CD)
    T. Rex - Electric Warrior singles set (6x7" set)
Unrest - Perfect Teeth (6x7" colored vinyl)
Various - Pretty in Pink Sdtk (12" pink vinyl)

I think the Unrest & T. Rex are my priorities.

Oh man, that Electric Warrior set looks sooo sweet. I don't think I have the coin for that, though. I've pared down and my mind is set on:
    12"
Skip James - Devil Got My Woman
Refused - The Shape of Punk to Come (this is the record I'm showing up at 7:30 for)
Grateful Dead - Dark Star, Paris, France 5/4/72 (the jacket for this looks so fucking cool, I can't wait)
EDIT: Wait. The disc only has Dark Star and not the whole show? Weeeaaaak. I may pass on this for something better now that I know that.
    7"
    The Mynah Birds
    Justin Townes Earle
    Otis Redding/Aretha Franklin split
    Mastodon/Flaming Lips split

The Stuff I'm trying desperately to avoid buying
    Buck Owens Coloring Book
Townes Van Zandt - At My Window
    Chocolate Watchband 7"
    Gene Clark 7"
    Shuggie Otis 7"
    James Brown 7"

Yes, I can't afford all that. Plus the Uncle Tupelo records? Easily $300. I think Jennie would stab me.

Yea, like I said, I don't have a good idea of exactly how much they're going to be. Can't find pricing anywhere. If they're really expensive, I'll end up skipping the rest.

The Jamiroquai is the thing I want the most but I trust if I pass on that, I can still find an import copy.

Someone posted a link in the RSD thread that had prices listed and it seemed pretty close to what things will cost. And is that T. Rex set a UK-only release? I thought I saw something like that on the T. Rex facebook page.

Thanks, I hadn't seen that (I don't really read the rest of the board). Dammit, now I'm starting to get anxious. I'm not sure what my strategy should be. That Unrest release is only getting 750 copies worldwide. Did not see that or the DJ Food/Amorphous Androgynous release on that price list.

maybe just show up and see what is available and in budget. there's no use trying to predict how it's going to turn out.

I don't recall, but it's probably on there. Most have been. Looks like you may have to join me in line next Saturday. I think Amoeba opens at 11, show up and meet me at 1055

They open at 10:30 on Saturdays. I have house guests that weekend, but I will try to get there as early as possible.

Budget is not really the issue - if those two singles box sets are there, I'd just get those and skip the rest. (I mean, I don't think budget will be an issue because all of the stuff I want won't be there).

I have two ideas for curated nights. I need to check on one of them to see if there are enough artists to make it viable though....

Turns out the Coachella Zia store had a bunch of the copies of the album I was ready to wait in line for. Score. Looks like I'll get to sleep that morning.

Record club meeting the day after RSD? Figure we might have some cool shit to play. People?

I have very tentative plans to go to the Sunset season opener on that Sunday, but I could be convinced to go to record club instead. Probably a wiser idea since I'm staying out all night the night before.

Oh and I'd have an out of town boardie with me!

Hmmm, seems this is not a good weekend. We can wait another week. Who's the out-of-town boardie?

if it's a weekend, next sat or sun works. the following weekend does not.

if it's a weekday, a wednesday might work for me.

I have a new godspeed you black emperor record. since my record store day purchases were done online they will probably not have arrived by the time we meet next.
