We should make that happen then.
I agree. Incidentally Melissa (whose bday is a week prior) and I have discussed throwing a joint celebration. Her one request is that a thematic narrative of "a suitcase full of drugs" is somehow incorporated.

There could definitely be a gonzo case.
First weekend of Feb. would work for me
I'll echo Heidi's questions - would first weekend of feb be saturday, and if so what time?

If we do first weekend of February, it would be 2/2. Coincidentally, that is also Sunni's birthday, so we can make that party a twofer.
If we're having a dancey party, I would like to do evening/night as opposed to afternoon/evening. So start around 5ish and go to midnight or whenever we decide to stop.
Re: South Bay Record Club, is there anyone in the South Bay with a turntable?
Oh snap, first weekend of March is my birthday (March 1st) and my beer-expert buddy will be up in SF with his girlfriend. He runs the Whole Foods beer & wine bar and is extremely passionate & knowledgable about beer, you guys will enjoy talking. Potential bonus? His girlfriend's dad owns Knee Deep Brewery up outside Sac, and with any luck John & Amanda will be bringing down some fresh growlers. If it were closer, we could probably go pour our own.
OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:

What kind of food are you guys eating maybe that will help decide what beer to pick.
Yea, let's not do anything complicated. Greg shouldn't have to spend the whole time in the kitchen for this.
fair point. that will be restricted to my dreams for a bit longer.
I'll bring a small variety of dips to cut back on any kitchen time.
Did y'all want the buffalo chicken dip again? I can make it with bleu cheese instead of ranch this time.
Make up your mind, dammit!
Oh. Hehehehehe. Don't ever listen to me.

Hi all, I realize I'm about a year late on this, but can I get in on this record club? Sounds right up my alley, and a good way to meet some new folks!![]()
.:07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12.1, 13.1:.
With Saturday fast approaching, we need a bit of coordination/detail-hashing.
Food? What about beer? I've been cruising BevMo and 5 & 7.5 gal. kegs run around $70-100 and 1/2 barrels going for around $170. What do you all prefer to drink? Personally, I'm a fan of porters & ales and not IPAs/overlyhoppybitterbeerexperience, but there are some IPAs I am cool with. State your preferences. Keep in mind that I have a Standard tap and that certain beers require different taps.
Naturally, we'll need party hats and possibly a variety of noisemakers from Party City. Is anyone down to make that trip? I'm off Thursday & Friday during the daylight hours, we can even go together.
(Pale) Ales, Reds or Lagers.
How many people are you expecting?
I'm still trying to figure out what kind of dips to bring. Maybe I'll throw something in a crock pot. I can also quickly put together a tortellini salad or something.
So far the cider keg is not working out (though I will let you know if that changes in the next day or so). I'm annoyed as everyone assured me it was being ordered, turns out Bevmo didn't want to bother adding a new SKU into their inventory. Jerks.
How many people are coming? A 1/2 barrel sounds like a lot of beer. I don't think there is much overlap in our tastes in beer, but you guys don't need to plan around my preferences, as I don't plan on drinking more than a couple of beers.

1/2 barrel is a lot of beer. On the bright side, anything we don't drink will be consumed by me at my leisure. But a pony keg is probably still the best bet. I don't know, I figure there may be 10 people or so.
A pony keg is like 60+ red solo cup fulls. I think that's enough, especially considering a couple of people are not big beer drinkers. I could pick up some 6-packs of cider for those who don't drink beer?
For food, would it be terrible to just order food, pizza, or something? While I love everything you've made, I don't think it would be fair to have you stuck in the kitchen the whole time.
