I know there are people who will see Tycho or some shit instead of Television. Don't be that person.

(Not bad mouthing Tycho, they're great. But don't miss Television for anything.)

    Isn't Tycho a he, not a they?

also I'm thinking Tycho would be a good "i need to take a break from all this punk rock for a while" set. sit in the grass with a beer, stare at the sky, relax.

but yeah. Television is non-negotiable. #1 on the TomAz charts.

Yes, i was going to say that as well. Though he performs with a band, I don't think the band is actually called Tycho.

also, while everyone knows Marquee Moon, and many know Adventure, not many know this one:

which i was listening to for the first time in a long time last night. 1992 'reunion' album. It's really pretty good and worth listening to. Not sure how much they will play off it though.

Tycho is incredible live. Dude designs all of the album artwork and the visuals for his shows himself.

Tom, you might like Bonobo as well. Just one guy, but he performs with a full band and has vocalists.

Looks like they've been playing 1880 or So at every show. It also looks like they've been doing at least 3-4 new songs every night, sometime even more.

I thought i read they were being billed as doing Marquee Moon in its entirety? They're not headlining this so i don't think think we'll get too much more than that, unfortunately.

Both very, very good acts. But go see Television, should there be a conflict.

While that sounds like fun, I'd prefer to hear a varied set. Television (the album) has some great songs on it, Adventure is full of classics and a set focused solely on Marquee Moon has the distinct possibility of bypassing Little Johnny Jewel, which would be heresy.

Full schedule (Nites and fest) is now available via the FFF app.

I just took a glance - Tenacious D is on the Yellow Stage not even headlining (?!). Sparks and Bill Callahan also on Yellow Stage. Wondering if I should upgrade to USP just for the newly introduced viewing platforms there, as people here have described Yellow stage as sometimes very (too) crowded.

For those that have gone in the past, has the Yellow stage cleared out between acts or do the crowds stay through?

The Yellow stage is usually in a tent. A very small tent. I hope they just make it a regular stage this year.

    December 31 - Matthew Dear/The Sword/Pallbearer
    January 30 - Behemoth
    February 3 - Zola Jesus
    February 10 - 1349
February 28 - A Place To Bury Strangers
    April 6 - Swans
    April 10-12 - Coachella
    April 17 - Clark/Nosaj Thing
May 8-10 - Austin Psych Fest
    May 15-17 - Psycho California
    June 24-28 - Glastonbury

Also there's a chance of new Television songs since they have a new album coming out.

I have thought to myself maybe these older bands do these "performing an entire critic/fan favorite album" tours so they can channel it for when writing a new album.

The new album's been written since 2007 apparently, but they've had a hard time getting together in a studio to record it all. They've been playing a new song called Persia since then, and the recent Japanese tour they were busting out a bunch of songs that people were tagging as "Unknown" which suggests they're probably new. I mean, if the person writing out the set list recognizes 1880 or So and The Rocket but doesn't know the other songs, they're probably new.

last year Titus Andronicus played in the tent, it was mobbed but it was a fabulous intimate setting. when they were done the tent pretty much cleared but was immediately refilled by people waiting for space for Trail of the Dead.

Since Tenacious D on the Yellow stage is going to be a clusterfuck, I might leave early that night and catch their Nite show instead.

Friday conflicts: No Age vs Kurt Vile; Thee Oh Sees vs The Walkmen

Sunday conflicts: Daniel Johnston at 7:35, the Locust at 8, Slayer at 8:30, King Kahn at 8:55, is all a sort of clusterfuck of stuff i want to see.

These are some brutal fucking conflicts for me

    Slayer vs Jurassic 5
    Quicksand vs Cut Copy
    Judge vs Sparks

But mostly, the conflicts are surprisingly not bad for me besides those.
Also, Tom, based on your selections and the gaps in your propsed schedule you should check out Title Fight, Bleached, White Lung, True Widow, Lemuria, and The Dismemberment Plan
Another Also, this thing with all the stages playing at the same time for the most part so there will be many moments of literally no music is pretty lame.

no, they have double stages at each location.. one band tears down or sets up while the other plays. they have 5 minute gaps between bands.

Kurt's album is probably my favorite of the year so far. His Coachella set was excellent.
