Such an awesome fest. Didn't know Santigold was that big?
Uh, yeah? Gotta start somewhere. She had one of the biggest crowds both coachella weekends btw.
I went last year and I think it sold out a couple weeks before the fest.
For anyone thinking about going, DO IT. This is a great festival during a great time of year in Austin. It was my third year attending and it's easily one of my favourite festivals. PIP is cheap, considering the free beer with free food, so this fest is very doable. They also give away a lot of swag. I got a sweet backpack last year that I use almost everyday. The only recommendation I have is to book accommodation early.
I'm really considering going this year again but after the week I'm taking off next week and then another week I'm taking off in October I doubt I'll be able to swing this.
just grabbed a pip ticket. Went last year and had a blast, super fun festival.
Jesus. Really bummed I can't go this year, but I am DEFINITELY going next year. Their lineups are consistently awesome, and this one obviously does no disappoint.

God this lineup is so good. If I wasn't already going to FYF, I so would do this. Wish FYF had Youth of Today, BTBAM, Real Estate, Beach Fossils, Lagwagon, Santigold, Wavves, and Diamond Rings...just to name a few. However I'm beyond stoked for Desaparecidos and Quicksand.
And American Nightmare....ok now I remember why Im going to FYF.
I want to see PiL again so bad. Stoked to see some new material live. And overall this really is a great line up. Was just in Austin earlier this year on business. Very cool town. Lots of good eats. Like this

I stayed in the historic Driskill hotel. It's beautiful inside and supposedly haunted. Damn nice place, although the rooms are not that big.
Decisions, decisions.
Tycho| Coachella 2013| Austin Psych Fest| Psycho de Mayo| Tame Impala| Black Rebel Motorcycle Club| Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers| Rodrigo y Gabriela/Devotchka| David Byrne & St Vincent| Capitol Hill Block Party| The Flaming Lips| Godspeed You! Black Emperor| Godspeed You! Black Emperor| The National| FYF Fest
Another great thing about this festival is it ends around 10 or 11 and there are always after-parties with these artists at the venues around town. I hope I win the guess the fest contest. I had so many of these bands on my list.
No, thery are having an actual taco cannon, or at least posted a photo of it on facebook. The band the device are two different things.
BONUS: NOT FEATURED ON POSTER, BUT FEATURED AT FEST: A FUCKING TACO CANNON Y'ALL

I cant beleive tomahawk is playing I wish i could go to this...
Can anyone give me a quick lowdown of the vibe/deal with this concert? Lineup is great, right up my alley. I've been to Austin, for ACL Festival one time, loved the city, had a good time at the festival, but I'm not really looking forward to standing in a blazing hot field for three days half a mile from the bands. Like, is this 8 thousand people, as opposed to 80 thousand? Is it generally decent weather at that time of year? Vendors good? Is the VIP (pip?) worth it? Security not overbearing? Any help would be, well........, helpful.
they hold it at a place called Auditorium Shores. I think there are maybe 20,000 or so people that attend. vibe is way different from acl. it's definitely worth experiencing. never done pip though.

If I'm looking for a hotel room, is pretty much anywhere downtown convenient to the Festival? i.e. Would I need a car? Is renting a bike an option? Is it still blazing hot by early November?
