Default the Coachella Message Board's collective list of OUR top albums of 2011

Post your top 25 albums of the year in this thread. Number your albums in order from 1-25.

Your #1 album will be equal to 25 points.
Your #2 album will be equal to 24 points.
    .
    .
    .
Your #25 album will be equal to 1 point.
    Make sense?

If you want to just post a top 10, or a list less than 25, that's okay. Your #1 album will still count for 25 points and so on and so forth.

I will tally everybody's lists together and post OUR collective Coachella Message Board Top 25 albums of 2011.

Lists will be due by Friday, Jan 6. If you want to edit your lists at all, that's fine but PLEASE ALERT ME BEFORE YOU EDIT YOUR LIST. All lists are final at Midnight on 1/6 (so that's Thursday night).

I have the time to do this over the next couple of weeks, and I imagine most of you would be interested in this and you'd be happy to see a year-end list that is put together by everybody on this board.

I do realize there is already a "Best of 2011" thread, but this thread is more specific to us individually posting our best album lists, and then having them calculated into one final list that represents the board. If you've already posted a list in that thread, re-post it over here.

If you don't want to be involved, then simply don't post.

    Happy Holidays.

I think I have listened to close to 25 this year. I am more than likely getting Itunes and record store gift cards for Christmas and will have more input for a smaller list.

I'm at 100+ easily. The giant web of artist I know, plus their similar projects, and recommendations of new stuff from here & my friends is already plenty. If I went out of my way to find new things beyond that I'd be swimming in albums to listen to.

What if we think two records are equally as good? Can they share the same amount of points?

    * Dillon Francis + Anamanaguchi -- December 28th

Going to Weekend 1 of Coachella 2014

I am actually impressed that you guys would be willing to do that. If are down to answer, what % of them are friends suggestions as opposed to blog suggestions as opposed to some other method (please share)

Edit: Hell, what % of them do you actually even like?

There isn't even 25 albums that are listenable. I love Jay Z and Kanye but that album blows. There are a few good tracks and that's it. Foster the People is another album that is hard to get through. Some great songs but some very skippable. I find it hard to believe that anyone can sit through a Bon Iver album...

I would say currently that easily 50% comes from this this board, 20% just downloading stuff from blogs because the description, cover, or "if you like this then you'll like this seems intriguing," 20% friends' suggestions, 10% articles/reviews.

I am pretty weird in how easygoing I am with music that the albums I listen to in these methods I probably like on at least a cursory level like 70=80% of the time. i don't throw much away. I have close to a top 100 for 2011 right now, of album I've listened to enough times to rate, but am still trying to digest a LOT more.

It's just so easy to listen to new stuff nowadays, so why not?

ah yeah, that doesn't seem alright.

you gotta either decide you like one more than the other or we go into a decimal point system or some other system that makes it more complicated than it needs to be.

i think you should just make a decision, one album over the other.

If I waited for only artist I know to release new records I would not listen to a lot of music and i'd play things out for sure. Download all things, listen to all things, decide to keep all things later.

I know what I like and don't like though for the most part, unless I'm completely unversed. Because of that I say I enjoy about 80% of what I get. I'm not on the cutting edge enough to get recommendations or read about shitty things if that makes sense...

Foster The People was so hard to get through, not only did I not bother trying to listen to other albums, I refute the notion that there even are other albums out there that might be worth listening to.

Here's the thing: Kurt Vile's album and The War on Drug's album are, at least two me, inseparable. They share members and the sound is so complementary between the two albums.

I feel ya, and my list will be set accordingly, but I don't feel like allowing two things to have equal points works.
