So FYI everyone I just reserved a spot at the Empress and they're 2/3(Or maybe it was 3/4) full already. They only need 72 hours notice to cancel reservations, so I'd definitely put one in if you can
I'm definitely going for the Berkeley though. Just like to have my bases covered!
I agree with TallGuy. It doesn't excite me very much either. It seems a bit novel to have the Afghan Whigs curate. Its like they just kinda hung an early 90's Spin magazine top 40list & threw a dart at it. Its gonna have to be a stellar lineup to get all the peeps from out west to travel & spend the $$$.
I'm excited about the Whigs, but I'm even more excited about the tone this sets for the weekend and the attendees. Their brand of grungy, dirty, sleazy, sexy rock makes me want to put on a worn out old see-through band t-shirt and drink a gallon of whiskey, which is pretty much what ATP is all about in my book, anyway.
Spin:
For their first show in America, they retreat to the naturally gloomy habitat of Asbury Park, New Jersey on September 22, 2012, where Greg Dulli will also be curating the Saturday of ATP's second annual weekend in New Jersey.
“My wife Deborah adores this band,” says ATP founder Barry Hogan, who has been organizing ATP events with his wife Deborah Higgins since 2004. “When we first started dating she would always say we had to get the Afghan Whigs to play for us. I used to love going to see them. They always sounded great, put 110% into their performances… We are truly honored that they chose I’ll Be Your Mirror UK to be their first ever show and Greg curating the next U.S. edition is something we have always dreamed of.”
As for hints to Dulli's curatorial style, one need not look much further than the Twilight Singers Facebook page, where Dulli is fond of championing bands: Recent posts include a links to the new single from fellow Gutter Twin Mark Lanegan as well as a thumbs up to indie concept artists Antlers, electro-pop genius Penguin Prison, Emeralds’ acoustic plucker Mark McGuire, veteran Belgian art-punks dEUS, Spanish indie rockers Niños Mutantes and, uh, Harry Nilsson.
“We are working on a list and will be speaking shortly to figure it all out but I am sure it will eclectic, as I know he likes anything from Solomon Burke to Mazzy Star,” says Hogan. “I know Greg is a fan of great music, that’s why we are excited to work with him.”
Emeralds and the ghosts of Solomon Burke and Harry Nilsson, please.

Room is booked at the Empress. If we end up getting in at the Berekely, I'd be happy to transfer the reservation to anyone who needs it/anyone who stops with the hipster bullshit and realizes this is ATP and it will be a weekend of awesomeness worth what it costs, but needs a hotel reservation.
I'm a reasonable man, get off my case....
Yup, signed up. I am assuming they will give previous attendees some sort of first dibs, as has been the case in the past. At least, I hope so.
Mazzy Star is back together aren't they? And Hope played in 2010.
Presale? Remember how stoked we all were to get tickets opening sale day in anticipation of it being a quick sellout this past year? We've never been so wrong as a collective group of boardies. The presale would have to be a substantial discount for me to purhcase.
Yeah I signed up for the pre-sale list, and took a wild guess at where i might have to send an email ahead of time for the pre-sale
I also tried reserving a room at the Berkeley for that weekend just in case... No luck though!
I think most of us were expecting tickets not to last through the day they went on sale this past year. I remember how amped all of us were when we got tickets & were up early in the morning to lock are passes down. 3 day passes were available for some time. I'm not gonna jump the gun is all I'm saying. Airfare, hotel, spending cash, its gotta be an awesome lineup. I love the venue & setting but I dunno. This past year is gonna be really hard to 1up or even compare to without an amazing lineup is all I'm saying.
I'm just happy to see two ATP curated days! Perfect to bring back Don't Look Back!!!!!
Let's come up with a list of Don't Look Back you guys like to see.....
Sorry man, every year people say 'it's going to be hard to stack up to last year's lineup' and yet nobody complains come festival time(well a lot of people complain during the process though!)
all of the albums

I know they said they wouldn't do it again but oh man would Ladies and Gentlemen sound good in the Paramount
3 Day Weekend Pass - J Spaceman Friday anyone?
Does the Empress require money down?
"All of you coachella 'regulars' have nasty boy pussies and itchy dick4's on your asses.
Why don't you all make like a tree and get chopped down and die. You all have been dreadfully mean to me.
I Hate you. All of you. None of you will ever get to see a womans chest meat or finger blast hott cougies like me.
Fuck you all. Consider this my resignation.
Fair the well, you elitest scumbags."
— Faxman75, who has clearly had enough
No, but it'll take a lot to get me out there this year. I have three weddings next summer, planning and probably financing a good deal of my brother's bachelor party, and funds are tight as is. And after this year's HOLY SHIT announcement with Portishead and Mangum, if this is the only announcement prior to presale than it pales in comparison big time.

I know the divorce rate is high but damn, you must have a bleak outlook on love if you have two more girls lined up already
