I've got to start working on my putt-putt
just kidding i destroyed that mini-golf course
great news. i'd love to do this again. i had one my best times at a music festival, and met a lot of you good people.
i'm going to NY the next month for a wedding - i don't think i can ditch heather's friends weddings two years in a row for this fest, unfortunately.

So my quick Google research on Greg Dulli's tastes:
- loves Cat Power, The Fall, Nick Cave
- has covered a wide array of songs between the Afghan Whigs and his side projects
- loves lots of musicians that are dead (Robert Johnson) or are not playing (Bob Dylan)
- tours with members of his side projects (Twilight Singers/Gutter Twins) who also are associated with other bands (Polyphonic Spree, Brendan Benson, Screaming Trees, QOTSA, Stanton Moore)
- friends with Petra Haden (who would make for a crazy DLB if she would do her cover of The Who's Sell Out with loop pedals...probably impossible).
- he also released two oddly chosen Top 10 lists for filter magazine:
Greg Dulli's Top Ten of 2009:
1. Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
2. Little Dragon - Machine Dreams
3. Tinariwen - Imidiwan: Companions
4. Wussy - Wussy
5. Various Artists - Gilles Peterson Presents Havana Cultura
6. Bat For Lashes - Two Suns
7. Handsome Furs - Face Control
8. The Aliens - Luna
9. Dam-Funk - Toeachizown
10. Kid Cudi - Man On the Moon: The End of Day
Greg Dulli's Top 10 of 2006:
Neko Case, Fox Confessor Brings the Flood (Anti)
Archie Bronson Outfit, Derdang Derdang (Domino)
TV On The Radio, Return To Cookie Mountain (Interscope)
Bohren & Der Club of Gore, Black Earth (Ipecac Recordings)
Justin Timberlake, Futuresex/Lovesounds (Jive)
Bob Dylan, Modern Times (Sony)
Ed Harcourt, The Beautiful Lie (EMI)
Joseph Arthur, Nuclear Daydream (Megaforce)
Gnarls Barkley, St. Elsewhere (Atlantic)
Karen Dalton, In My Own Time (Reissue) (Light in the Attic)
*based upon tedious fact checking.
Your bullet points make me so hopeful, your top-10 lists make me so not...
Although Bohren on the second stage would send me through the roof with excitement
Mmmm Bat for Lashes and Nick Cave please.

I posted this in the 2011 ATP thread, but here are a list of covers performed by the Afghan Whigs on various releases. Here is the track list of the covers album he did with the Twilight Singers:
Feeling of Gaze (Hope Sandoval)
Too Tough to Die (Martina Topley-Bird)
Hyperballad (Björk)
Strange Fruit (Billie Holiday)
What Makes You Think You're The One (Fleetwood Mac)
Real Love (Mary J. Blige)
Hard Time Killing Floor (Skip James)
A Love Supreme (John Coltrane)
Please Stay (Once You Go Away) (Marvin Gaye)
Black Is The Color Of My True Love's Hair (traditional, arrangement Dulli)
Summertime (George Gershwin)
If they do a full album set of Gentlemen and not Black Love becuase of you well-meaning but misinformed fans, I will stab an old immigrant woman.
"All of you coachella 'regulars' have nasty boy pussies and itchy dick4's on your asses.
Why don't you all make like a tree and get chopped down and die. You all have been dreadfully mean to me.
I Hate you. All of you. None of you will ever get to see a womans chest meat or finger blast hott cougies like me.
Fuck you all. Consider this my resignation.
Fair the well, you elitest scumbags."

Wow really?
I like it a lot but it just seems kinda like a comedown after the masterpiece that is Black Love.

FUCK YES. SIGN ME UP.
I'm getting a room at the Berkeley again if at all possible. Anyone else who wants in, let me know.
most of the stuff Brad listed above does not bode well in my book. at least it is only one day...
I really should go to this, my friend lives near Ashbury Park.
He's a got a full house to himself and his dog.
I want Nick Cave to come back.
I love those first six songs on 1965 because they're so effortless, so soulful, and so hook-filed. Black Love is a gem, and "Summer's Kiss" may be quintessential Dulli, but I've started so many Friday nights with 1965 and gin and tonic that I am probably blinded to everything else.
Halfway through listening to Gentlemen for the first time... I can get behind this. I don't worry about quality at ATP anymore though... I'm going. Hoping I can stay at the Berkeley this year.
Count us in. I'm booking a room at the Empress again, just in case we can't get into the Berkeley. Hope that they add more attractive acts for those of you on the fence. It was great being a part of "Coachella Board invades Jersey Shore".
I'm a reasonable man, get off my case....
just listened through black love for the first time. I'm already looking at hotels again
Bottle Rock, Napa Valley, May 9-12
Bjork, Craneway Pavillion. May 22nd
Philip Glass Koyaanisqatsi, Davies Symphony Hall May 26th
They're different enough albums that it'd be difficult to claim one over the other, but I'd have to go with 1965. Though it's hard to top the last two tracks on Black Love.
