Do they sell ice at the campgrounds? Was wondering how to keep food/beer/drinks cold for 3 days, as ice would probably melt by end of day 1. Thanks

They didn't last year but I suspect they will this year because people were PISSED. A lot of people weren't forward thinkers like you and didn't realize that the ice they brought in would, in fact, melt by the end of the first day.

Put 5 lb. of dry ice in the bottom of your cooler and your ice will stay frozen for days.

To clarify what Guedita said, they DID sell ice last year, both at the main General Store as well as the mini General Stores located in each lot. However, some unknown catastrophe befell the mini-GS in Lot 5, where most of the hardcore Thursday noon campers ended up, so the perception is that there was no ice, when in fact there was tons, just not for them.

All that said, it can be a real schlep to carry the ice from the stores to your site, so plan accordingly.

No, they did not sell ice at all and never intended to last year. Remember all of the #NOICEINTHEDESERT! tweets?

Well, I don't remember the tweets, but I DO remember buying like a dozen big bags of ice at the main General Store between lots 8 and 10 two at a time and carrying them to my space at the ass end of 7th Street in Lot 8. I bought ice on Friday and Saturday at least, and a girl in our group bought two more to dump into her kiddie pool on Sunday.
That's not the sort of endurance trial one forgets. There was a truck to the right of the entrance to the store that never seemed to be out when I went by.
If you were in Lot 5, I could see how you could develop the opinion that there was no ice, since the walk from there would be more than double the walk I made, which was fairly unbearable as it is.

Edit: Wait, was this whole thing trolling the OP, and I fucked it up? If so, my bad.

Buy this portable refrigerator/freezer for $1449 and you would not have to worry about ice.

How can I possibly make it up to you?

On-topic: Don't drain the water out of your cooler and don't leave it in the sun/open, and you will be amazed at how long a little ice can go. i think the biggest mistake people make with their coolers is to drain them entirely of cold water before dumping new ice on top.

I think it was ten dollars, possibly fifteen. Cheap way to store ice for the weekend is to just save empty milk gallons and fill them up with water and freeze them over night. I know some people will just laugh at me for actually taking the time to suggest this but you'll be surprised about how many people lack this kind of common sense. Also, it's pretty funny watching security try to search your cooler when the ice in it formed a solid block around our stuff, poor guy hurt his hand trying to get to all of the liquor I had in the bottom

Here's a picture of one of the ice freezers:

The freezers were behind these hats in the General Store:

The General Store also sold "ice" cream:

I'd like to believe you, but nowhere on the FAQ of the campground section does it mention that ice is sold at the general stores. I know this because I read the FAQs before I make a thread to ask questions.

I don't remember ice being over $10 per bag.

We froze everything we could before camping (Huge 2.5 Gallon waters and a case of water bottles) and then put some block ice in our huge cooler. We still a small block of ice in the water gallons and the cooler by the end of the week. We DID buy a couple of bags of ice to have a drink only cooler that we kept really cold. This prevented people from going into the main cooler a ton of times during the day. We only opened the main one in the morning to get drinks and breakfast out and for lunch and dinner. And of course we kept everything in the shadiest (as in, no sun, not slim) spots possible. Worked well for us. Doing it again this year since I don't want to deal with dry ice.

I'm not sure what I was expecting when I came into this thread but it surely was not heated debate about ice.
