David Bowie-Glass Spider
I traded in a bunch of my DVDs, which I've been digitizing... I'm not keeping physical copies of some of the films I'm not that interested in any more...
So I got these LPs:
Yellow Swans - Demos (press of 500)
Belong - Colorless Record (St. Ives press of 300, each one handmade by the artists and really fucking gorgeous)
DNA - On DNA (press of 2000)
Lithops - Mound Magnet
Fennesz - Black Sea
I also got the Campfire Songs CD by Animal Collective (went out of print recently, and I never grabbed it)...
according to the sticker on my 2LP copy... only 2000.
That record is so fucking good, it has everything
How very Jared of you to put the the press number in your post.
Last night I picked up:
Hail to the Thief
Amnesiac 10"
Third
All on vinyl.
I made some poor financial decisions today because I hadn't been record shopping in a couple of months. So what if Christmas is around the corner!
LP's:
The Cure - The Only One (7")
Mott the Hoople - Mott
No Age - Teen Creeps (7")
The Rain Parade - Live in Japan
Raphael Saadiq - The Way I See It
XTC - The Black Sea
CD's:
The Replacements - Let It Be
Wipers - Wipers Box Set
XTC - Apple Box
DVD's:
The Complete Jam
Misc:
Buddha Machine II
Oh, and I got the following from the No Age/Titus Andronicus show, as well as work:
LP's:
No Age - Eraser (7")
Titus Andronicus - The Airing of Grievances
CD's:
Tom Petty - Highway Companion
The Replacements - Don't Tell a Soul
The Replacements - All Shook Down
Neil Young - Sugar Mountain
Sigh.
That Sugar Mountain CD is awesome.
That's a fantastic haul, but I'd like to know if you've sat down with the 2 Replacement's CD's you bought or if you were already familiar with them? They're certainly more "mature" than their previous releases.
Black Sea is my all-time favorite XTC release. I guess the new version of the CD adds like 3 or four songs.
And Sugar Mountain is quite good, but I don't know if it's as good as Massey Hall...strong score on the Mott as well. You're making me feel as though I need to go make some ill-advised purchases as well!
I just ordered the Paw Tracks christmas 7" (Dave Porter, Kria Bekken, and Antony share a track)... I also snagged a Black Dice and Ariel Pink 7"...
giggles.
I am going to listen to those Replacements records when I drive home in a couple of days. I have only read about them. I got them through work, so if I dislike them (which won't happen...even a not great Replacements record won't suck), they were free.
That was provocative.
Had to sell some CDs at Rasputin today. Used the proceeds to buy:
LPs:
Minutemen - Double Nickels on the Dime
Von Bondies - Lack of Communication
CDs:
Starling Electric - Clouded Staircase
Say what you want about the Von Bondies, but Lack of Communication rocks very hard.
