I wholly recommend the Pioneer BS series. I have BS-41's. They go on sale regularly.

They are insanely expensive for original copies. The bootleg sounded excellent. Got it from 1234 Go!

Do you know a timetable for that? I guess this could potentially be that.

Not sure what the time table is. This year was the target I was told. They haven't rolled out yet as far as I know.

What makes me think that's possible is they also had the Self-Titled and Health and Efficiency.

it's certainly possible. i wasn't aware of a bootleg of health and efficiency. but I would have thought the official channels would have mentioned it if they were out (e.g. rough trade, http://this-heat.com/index4.html, the twitter account, or wire)

Oh shit, Jared, good to see you posting in here.

Went out digging for my "shop" and ended up buying some personal treats instead:

Frank Zappa & the Mothers - Fillmore East - 1971 (op)
Brian Eno/David Byrne - My Life in the Bush of Ghosts
the Cure - The Walk (mini LP)
Leo Kottke - 6 and 12 String Guitar
    Odetta - Best Of
the Smiths - That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore (12")

And Bryan, it was really great seeing you. That Slayer record was fucking ridiculous; instant headbanging. The Blind Lemon was quite good as well, but I'm really happy we got to finish Soultrane. I had listened to side 1 but had been saving "Russian Lullaby."

EDIT: ps - I'm drinking the Black Hand bomber right now. Tasty.

    Nice gets.

I just swooped an old Zappa as well

Zappa - Chunga's Revenge (white label promo)

Also, got some other things on my trip up to Santa Cruz to see my brother. They have three pretty good shops in such a small walking distance. It's killer.

    At Metro Vinyl:

Pink Floyd - Dark Side (MFSL pressing!)
Tool - Lateralus (the recent pic disc pressing)
Sufjan Stevens - Illinoise (Superman cover) FOR THIRTY DOLLARS! The guy behind the counter had no idea what he had. So awesome.

At Logos (a very cool book/record/stuff store):

Bill Evans / Jim Hall - Intermodulation (80s Japanese press)
Billie Holiday - At Jazz at the Philharmonic (80s Japanese press)
Oliver Nelson - The Blues and the Abstract Truth (70s ABC press)
The Impressions - The Impressions (og mono press, in rough shape for 3 bucks)
The Supremes - Where Did Our Love Go? (1964 stereo press)

Where were we talking about albums that have appreciated in value since we bought them? I was entering some stuff in Discogs yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see that my copy of Regina Spektor's Soviet Kitsch (bought for $15 several years ago) is now selling for $150ish.

Ods, at Metro I once found the Grizzly Bear "While You Wait for the Others" live on KCRW 7" for $3.99. Sealed and everything. They let a lot of things slip through cheap.

The Beatles are reissuing their mono albums this Sept. Back to the tapes (or at least the safety masters) with no digital processing in the chain. Pressed at Optimal in Germany (a damn good pressing plant). All art and packaging to be carefully replicated. Preorders being taken now.

Yeah the Sufjan was just sitting on top of some stuff they hadn't priced yet. I was walking around the store and I told the guy a few times that I might buy it and he was like yeah yeah I'll look it up... he didn't for the whole time I was there. At the end I asked him if he looked it up and he sheepishly said no and quickly typed a few things into the computer. I imagine he clicked on the wrong pressing or something because it routinely goes for 75+ online. So either he's a homie or a dumbass. Either way, I'm stoked.

I ended up with the Pioneer BS-22s and they sound fantastic. I do worry about getting evicted, though, because they pack quite a punch.

So the most recent reissue is still readily available, but Chelsea Wolfe's Ἀποκάλυψις is available for pre-order on transparent smoky gold vinyl. Even more exciting is The Grime and the Glow coming on black smoke vinyl, and that album has been $150-250 on discogs. Just pre-ordered mine.

Latest impulse purchase was Toy & Natasha Khan - "The Bride" 7". Hand-numbered out of 250.

The best way to shop at Zia is to not go there for a couple months. They finally turned over some of their used selection so I picked through a lot of it. Got a big haul.

Eddie Jefferson - Come Along With Me
Elvis Costello - My Aim is True (2nd US press)
Eric Kloss - In The Land of Giants
    Freddie Hubbard ‎– Straight Life
The Janet Lawson Quintet - Dreams Can Be
John Coltrane ‎– Expression (record club stereo version)
Jon Hendricks - Recorded in Person at the Trident
    Junior Mance - Harlem Lullaby
