I'm hoping to get that Christmas comp too, along with the MMJ, White Stripes singles, Reservoir Dogs and Moonrise Kingdom soundtracks, and the Link Wary. Surprised not to see the Buck Owens release on your list, greghead - does it cost too much, or do you just hate the fucking Eagles?

I just hate the fucking Eagles, man.

Actually, I would like to get that one, the Link Wray, and the Gene Clark discs, but I'm trying to be realistic about my finances. Chances are I'll get the Dead, blues comp, and MMJ, and bemoan having to choose between Love, Merle, and Reservoir Dogs.

    Popmarket's Black Friday sales.

I definitely am intrigued by that Grateful Dead box set.

Edit: Oh fuck, and it has the original mixes for Aoxomoxoa and Anthems of the Sun!!!! The more psyched-out ones.

I have lossless rips of these reissues and they sound great. I'm tempted by that as well.

My plan was to do RSD today, but I slept in and went to my local store instead:

Thelonious Monk Quartet - Monk's Dream (op)
Portishead - Roseland NYC Live (reissue)
    Gary Numan - Replicas
    XTC - English Settlement
    XTC - Skylarking
Big Brother & The Holding Company - s/t
New Order - Fine Time 12"
Elvis Costello - My Aim Is True (Stiff Records op, made in Belgium, and pressed on bright blue vinyl - so awesome!)

Star Wars - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
    Elton John - Greatest Hits
    The Police - Zenyatta Mondatta
    Billy Joel - The Stranger
Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong - Porgy & Bess (on Verve, yes!)
    Billy Joel - Piano Man

Make it over now. Next week I'm moving back home for a while, so I'll be living in Bishop, which is just south of Yosemite and right by Mammoth Mountain. Come ski and do a record club!

Meco - Star Wars and Other Galactic Funk (disco + Star Wars music = awesome)

These all sound delightfully bizarre. I would love to hear what Tolkien sounded like.

I'll just have to come to Bishop, I suppose.

My uncle is an astronomer, so his tastes fall somewhere between "nerdy" and "totally bizarre." The Tolkien records are a trip.
