I think Frank Zappa, like Led Zeppelin, is for teenagers. So goofy. Susie cream cheese and all that nonsense.

Also went to Bloomfest today, a free street faire in the arts district of downtown. I saw Mike Watt and Saccharine Trust, who both killed, and dropped by Artform Studios:

    Nina Simone - Black Gold
    Maxwell - Embrya
The Byrds - Mr. Tambourine Man
Buffalo Springfield - Last Time Around

I had slept on those Baroness albums for too long. Just bought Red Album from eBay and Blue Record from Amazon. Everyone wins.

Was the Blue from the same seller already sold out? They had a great shipping price for the 2: 3 bucks in total.

Pre ordered the new How to Dress Well w/ the 7" and also the new Animal Collective silver foil cover. Also just got the Dirty Projectors special edition LP and the John Maus rarities thing on pink vinyl. Domino is really dumb about combining shipping. Ribbon Mart and Domino use the same shipping company, so I emailed seeing if they would combine my John Maus and Dirty Projectors albums, ($6 shipping each for both, which is stupid in itself) which they were unable to do because they were both pre orders. Both showed up yesterday at the same time from USPS from the same address. Reeaaaal dumb.

Edit: For those that didn't get the Drums Not Dead on the ebay link that was posted, it looks like they are doing a full repress....

    http://www.amazon.com/Drums-Not-Dead...not+dead+vinyl

I got a refund on my ebay order cause it ends up being like $10 cheaper.

Didn't seem to be any problems, but we will see. I didn't pay much for shipping either, which is why I love buying vinyl through Amazon.

I literally put those records back five times at Rasputin in Pleasant Hill. I wonder if they are still there.

I did the same thing so many times at Amoeba, and when I finally went with the intent to get them, they were sold out. They have a copy of the Red album on the wall right now for $100.

A co-worker was getting rid of some of his in-laws' vinyl at work the other day. Most of it is in pretty decent shape.

    LP:
Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass - Christmas Album
    Burt Bacharach - Burt Bacharach
    The Doors - Morrison Hotel
    Bob Dylan - Nashville Skyline
Paul Simon - There Goes Rhymin' Simon
    Steppenwolf - Steppenwolf
    The Turtles - Happy Together
VA - A Tribute to Burt Bacharach: Composer, Arranger, Conductor
    OST - Dr. Zhivago
    OST - Shaft

Also got some Slumberland stuff and another record, all of which is great.

    LP:
    Allo Darlin' - Europe
    Echo Lake - Wild Peace
VA - Dublab Presents Echo Expansion

    7":
    The June Brides - Moon/Cloud

    CD:
The June Brides - Between the Moon and the Clouds

When I listened on Spotify, that was my first time hearing it. I just lucked into finding it yesterday. What a killer record.

They're repressing all of the albums it seems. I saw They Were Wrong and They Threw Us up on Amazon last night.

That was your first time, really!? Hell yeah. The calypso drums on "Westwind" always leave me awed. And I LOVE listening to her talk, something about her voice and her speaking-meter makes my brain & heart melt into one.

I'm definitely going to pre-order Drum's Not Dead. And it looks like I need to get some Baroness vinyl too.

Yup. I know a ton of her material, but have never really sat down with an album until now. That one was my favorite, and it was really decently priced at this soul/funk store I go to in downtown.

    Fiona Apple-The Idler Wheel
    Frank Ocean-Channel Orange

Both albums have been praised by many and I haven't really heard too much of either, so I feel i'm in for quite the treat.

I opened a box that arrived in the mail this morning, and for a moment I thought it was someone playing a joke on me... a wonderful, wonderful joke, but still.

Then I remembered, no, I actually did buy these.

Bobby Brown - My Prerogative 12"
Johnny Gill - Johnny Gill LP
Monie Love - It's a Shame (My Sister) (Remixes) 12"
Full Force - Old Flames Never Die 12"
    Deee-Lite - Bring Me Your Love 12"
Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam - Everything Will B-Fine 12"
Gary "Jackmaster" Wallace - House Has Taken Over Me 12"
    L'Trimm - Cars With the Boom 12"
The JAMs (aka The Timelords) - Burn the Beat 12" **

    The last two are GLORIOUS.

**will have to do until I can find a copy of the original Burn the Bastards release.

I don't know, Zappa was a hell of an arranger and his bands were always filled with ace players.

Vinyl? I thought Frank Ocean's LP weren't comin' out til the 31st.

Oh, and it's far and away the best thing this year. Fiona's is one of the only ones reaching to similar heights.
