Glass House record store JUST got their RSD stuff yesterday. Picked up the Garbage 10". I don't know how rare the Pink Panther and Wizard of Oz releases were but they had several of each in stock. If there's anything someone wants, I can check today or tomorrow. No ManMan or School of Seven Bells, plenty of 311 and Aerosmith.

Okay, updated list. If you're interested in something, let me know. Whatever I haven't sold in 2 weeks is going to Amoeba.

50 cents. I listened and it plays pretty much perfectly, and it's the original 70s press. Fucking find. The seller was this crazy old lady from Joshua Tree. I may be headed that way this weekend, so she gave me her address to look through the rest of her collection. She said what I bought was the tip of the iceberg.

Definitely hit her up on that, those are always the best digs.

Been a quiet six months for me but recently picked up a couple I've spent years looking for. Overpaid by about $10 but I had to have them.

Sam Cooke - Ain't That Good News (og mono)
The Kinks - Face to Face (SEALED 60s Spanish press)

I've never seen a Kinks record out in the wild like that, much less a 40 year old sealed copy.

    Nice finds guys!

I just hit an estate sale a few days ago... fucking crazy collection of MINT Jazz originals... 1950s-1980s. Some of the records/covers are so glossy they look brand new. Where is this? I might be able to take an extra swing through vegas on my way back from Joshua Tree this weekend.

Also, forgot to list, from my Reno pick up:

Miles Davis - Sketches of Spain (1963 2-Eye Columbia, jacket is worn and disc is near-perfect)

Some dude in the suburbs has all his grandfather's collection. Really unbelievable stuff. Stacks and stacks in a little room. Probably about 100 box sets that I didn't even know what to do with. I'll pick it with you though, feel free to hit me up if you're coming through. I'll make sure it's still there as well; I imagine it's not going anywhere unless someone with a big wallet comes and gets the whole thing.

Holy shit! Dude, buy up literally everything you can afford. Honey holes like that are so rare. Virtually everything you listed is worth money, and people pay crazy money for jazz records in great shape like that.

I know dude! I'm gonna go back as soon as payday hits lol. The guy said he thinks his grandpa sold all the blue notes (GAHHHHHHHH) but everything else looks to be there. Amazing shit in perfect condition. Jackpot. I still haven't even looked at the 45s or 78s. Or the soundtracks or the classical really.

I just grabbed everything I knew and then everything I could get with a desirable label that looked old (but in good cond.) It's honestly unbelievable the quality of some of the records. Like that Ellington - Uptown is glossy as fuck with crisp edges and corners. Ridiculous. The original sleeves are all present and most look untouched, which for the Verve and Impulse stuff means beautiful color sleeves. This guy was definitely a serious collector and took care of his shit.

If he had his Blue Note collection I might have shit my pants walking in there.

It's been a while since I've purchased an LP. But I bought this today, because it isn't on Spotify and I want to hear it:

It was only $15.17 for the vinyl, including shipping, and it comes with an MP3 download code (including 3 bonus tracks). I got it off the Temporary Residence website.

I tossed on The Promise Ring - Nothing Feels Good tonight and was reminded that, when I found the record in the bargain bin I had never heard it. I love this album to death now and have played this record as much as anything I own. I'd call it probably my best blind record discovery.

What about y'all? What's the best thing you've bought without any clue as to what you'd hear, and which subsequently charmed your pants off?

You timed that well, as Mississippi Records recently reissued the Anthology of American Folk Music.

This is a good question. I've found some really, really great stuff, I'll have to think about it. First thing that comes to mind is Dave Edmunds' - Repeat When Necessary. Turned me into a huge Rockpile/Nick Lowe fan. It was in clearance for a $1 and I only bought it because it was on Swan Song and I had been listening to Zeppelin earlier that day.

Agreed. While McCartney has certainly grown on me, Ram is just ridiculous in how good it is. I have a UK EMI/Parlophone press for sale that is pretty worn but still sounds incredible. I don't know what they treated that vinyl with, but it may as well be adamantium because it's fairly indestructible. I've been trying to sell it for a buck but no one's into it despite my assurances.

    LP:
These New Puritans - Field of Reeds

    12":
Mark Pritchard - Make A Livin'

No one was talking about the These New Puritans record last year. It is really, really good. Fans of the last two Talk Talk records will be into it big time. Very orchestral and atmospheric, and definitely not like any of their previous music (at least that I have heard).
