I'm running out of space. I like it and was planning to relisten to it before parting with it but didn't love it so much on previous listens that I absolutely need to keep it.

My copy of Glenn Branca - Lesson No. 1 showed up today and they really did a great job. I think I actually prefer the performance on the second disc, as it's a bit more developed and definitely more vicious sounding. So glad you posted that Andrew.

I also found another one of the baskets I use for overflow records, so now I have my jazz, blues, country and classical records separated, which opened up more room in my pop/rock/soul/funk/folk collection space and made me realize that I'm getting a fairly decent little country collection.

Also, to any collectors out there, Exene from X is having an estate sale at her home in Santa Ana this weekend. I can't imagine the shit she'll have for sale.

Apparently Swans is reissuing The Burning World on vinyl, which is kind of bizarre seeing as how I think that even Gira is not a huge fan. But, this led me to find that they also reissued Filth not too long ago and there are quite a few copies floating around for about $20. So yeah, gonna start building that Swans back catalog.

I love The Burning World, but I think it may be mostly because it was A) my introduction to the band, and B) released when I was 16, when I was heavily into The Smiths, Joy Division, and The Cure. It was dark, angsty, and melodic, which was right in my wheelhouse at the time.

Okay, so I came into a bit of money last fall. One thing my wife and I did was buy a house. The other thing I did was buy a bunch of records. These are the LP's I purchased in the last couple months, a combination of new stuff, trips to used vinyl stores, Discogs purchases, a Craigslist score, and a visit to the Atlanta Record Show.

Mine is probably my copy of Meddle by Pink Floyd. It's from the first US pressing of the album in 1971. Probably not that rare but it's my absolute favorite album form Pink Floyd.

    April 17 - Clark/Nosaj Thing
May 8-10 - Austin Psych Fest
    May 15-17 - Psycho California

I have an original Japanese press of Osorezan No Stooges Kyo, the first Boredoms album, in fucking pristine condition with inserts and everything. It looks brand new, and apparently a decent amount of the original copies got fucked up by noise folks at some point. I love Boredoms and adore that record.

I've also got a few that I'd put right about the same level: my first presses of Daydream Nation (with the poster) and Let it Be by the Replacements spring immediately to mind, mostly because the records sound so much better than the CD pressings. Let It Be sounds like you're sitting in the room with the band as they get drunk and sad.

My first pressing of different class. It has a taped-over rip on the front window, and the record is probably in VG shape at best, but it took me years to find. I finally did find it when I went to amoeba the morning Citrus finally came out on vinyl. The first pressing includes 6 inserts with a photo on each side so you can use whichever you want for the cover. My copy, though, came with a duplicate of one of the inserts, and I ended up giving it to my self proclaimed musical soulmate when she was visiting LA a few months ago. So a perfect mix of scarcity and story.

Runners up would be Lush - Split, which looks newer than the actual new records I purchased last night and sounds so dreamy on vinyl. And my signed copy of Loveless (plain records red vinyl reissue).

FSOL - Lifeforms without a doubt is my crown jewel. My favorite electronic album ever, it took me like 15 years to find a copy that was at all affordable. Was the first discogs purchase I received, I think, paid 40 euro and the seller claimed it was in VG condition but when it arrived, it was perfect.

I'd say my first press, still sealead, Japanese edition of Vespertine is my crown jewel. I believe I didn't spend too much on it, either. It was just sitting in the bins when I was digging in Japan.

Yeah my DMM Vespertine is probably one of my crown jewels.

Abbey Road MFSL pressing, Little Dragon s/t (the limited 300 repress), Earth - Hex; or Printing in the Infernal Method, and my Biggie - Ready to Die original pressing probably round out the top 5.

edit: thought about a few more... All the Thievery Corp LPs I have are pretty pricey, Mark Farina's Mushroom Jazz 1, and Julia Holter's Tragedy as well.

Picked up William Onyeabor - Who is William Onyeabor? 3xLP yesterday in Philly and it is the best 30 bucks I've spent in a while. I highly recommend picking this record up if you haven't already.

The LP I value most in my collection is the album in my avatar. Annoyingly, it has a different cover for the vinyl version.
