I disabled the notifications because I'd end up browsing almost every day, heh. Unfortunately that hasn't kept me away.

I don't know much about his story, but that album rules. Dude was talented.

Got the shiny new Connan Mockasin Caramel vinyl and was going to debut a spin on the record player at my Christmas eve party until finding out Bobbi, a woman who talks way too loudly with frequent cackling laughter outbursts, is going to be there so think it may have to be re-scheduled as to not ruin the experience.

Anyone looking to stock up on cheap vinyl, Slumberland Records is running a huge sale (20-60% off) on its entire catalog.

Not only have I not received it, I didn't create an account so I have no way of logging into matador and checking on it and I also never received any type of e-mail confirmation for my purchase. I did however find the charge on my bank statement so i'm going to give it until mid January then i'll call even though I have no order number.

I haven't even listened to it yet but couldn't pass up the black Friday deal from Matador plus the little i've heard from albums passed I liked. I listened to the Darkside album today. I know nothing about them and enjoyed the dark ambiant sound.

I had one show up today and found a few things at the thrift store:

SubRosa - More Constant Than the Gods (cream/red splatter vinyl, edition of 100)
    Laurie Anderson - Mister Heartbreak
    Dave Brubeck - Greatest Hits
Ella Fitzgerald - The World of Ella Fitzgerald
Daniel Barenboim - Mozart Symphony 40
London Sinfonietta - Rhapsody in Blue

And some untitled, undated 10" floppy record that I picked up on a whim because of the mystery. I was looking through the "sleeve" (brown paper wrapped around cardboard" and found the date 1941 and the words "A keeper" written on it.

Nope. And that is a requirement for it, as I found out last night. It sounds mostly spoken-word, but there's also some singing going on. I need to find something that plays 78 to check it out.

You never know with those 78s, you can find some neat stuff on those. I know a guy who found a Robert Johnson single pressed on a dimestore label from the mid 40s. Last year I saw a collection anarchist speeches from the early 20s that looked pretty sweet.

The same thrift store had a complete French 78 collection of The Damnation of Faust.

Beacon - The Ways We Separate
Veronica Falls - Waiting for Something to Happen
    The Haxan Cloak - Excavation
    Xosar - Retreat 2 Rapture 12"
    The KLF - Justified & Ancient 12"

And my brother just shipped me 25 lbs of records that belonged to my parents. Excited to see what's in there (have a feeling it's pretty common stuff).

Merry Christmas, indeed. Scored a new crown jewel for the collection in the form of Lush - Split on vinyl. Looks brand new, too, this beauty is immaculate. Plus Scott Walker - The Drift and Chvrches' album and for delayed gratification, preorders of cibo matto and st Vincent's new ones.
