- PEARL JAM WHY YOU HATE COACHELLA? -
It was - one of the perks of having a wife who is also in to vinyl I suppose!
Sadly it's the psychedelic cover, and it's not in the best of shape either; the records are really clean though, and for me that's what matters the most. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for The Cry of Love too.
It was $18; the condition of the box, the three jackets, and the records themselves are phenomenal, although it is missing the poster. I might have overpaid a bit for this, but whatevs - I fucking love this album.

Bryan, is that you're nice way of saying that I did, indeed, overpay? And yes, $1 for that album is a crazy stupid deal - were the boxes all torn to shreds or something?

That's really strange, as you don't expect to find those kinds of deals at Amoeba.

Serious. But, to be fair, if you spend enough time with the dollar section you can come away with pure gold. I got most of my Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, John Fahey and AC/DC records from there, and one day I found the Replacements - Let It Be and Pleased To Meet Me.
I'm with Bryan, the clearance bin is where I do the majority of my best work. And I actually have two copies of All Things Must Pass. How could I pass up a NM copy w/ poster for $5? Impossible. Now I have one copy to play and one to keep.
EDIT: And speaking of clearance, I saw this guy the other day training his daughter.

Monoshock - Walk to the Fire
Spray Paint - Spray Paint
PS Bryan (and everyone else)...you need to check out all of the LPs mentioned in the above post. Banque Allemande is super minimal punk rock from Germany. Reminds me a lot of Feedtime, in terms of relentless pummeling. I've pushed Follakzoid and the Holydrug Couple on here before -- both are Chilean and rooted in psychedelia. Follakzoid is more krautrock sounding, Holydrug is more heavy psych. Monoshock is crazy, blown-out garage with a Hawkwind feel. The record above is described as psychedelic punk, which is pretty accurate. Spray Paint is angular punk rock that gets weird but is tuneful too.
Anyway, all of said bands are worth learning about. Check em out.
I've listened to both Follakzoid and Holydrug per your and others recommendations: awesome stuff. Banque Allemande sounds interesting, but Monoshock is the one that sounds like they most deserve my ears. That description is fantastic.

the reissued version of the MARS 3xcassette box set finally hit stateside. you should absolutely grab one, seeing as it is one of the coolest things that was released last year. no chance this will last long. http://www.fusetronsound.com/label.php?whomart=MARS it is a rad compilation of stuff mark dug out of old cassettes he had. mostly outtakes and weird alternate, rambling versions of songs and not songs.
damn. that was fast. looks to be sold out from all of Anomia's US distributors. you might poke around and see if any int'l ones have it. it's worth it. you'll love it.
also, email chris at fusetron and see if there are any leftovers.
