Let me know how the Aphex record sounds. If it's good, it's my next purchase. I'm listening to Selected Ambient Works Vol. 2 right now and really wishing I had Druqks instead.

Druqks is a record I very, very much wish I owned. Are there any good represses? I'm supremely out of the loop with that stuff ...

Never been repressed and it was only pressed in a ridiculously small number of 4LP box sets. I'm really fighting the urge to buy a copy on eBay for 100 bucks right now, but it's from England and the shipping will kill that good deal.

Wow, that's tempting. I turn 30 this coming year, perhaps I'll have to treat myself with something like this.

I'm avoiding it for now because popsike tells me that you can get copies for about 60-75 off eBay if you're diligent. And, he's reissued much of the catalog in the past few years, so I'd almost expect this to be included in that eventually.

    Thrift stores:

Roy Orbison - The Orbison Way
Duane Eddy - $1,000,000 Worth of Twang
The Ventures - Play Telstar and other hits

Got a gift card to a mall that I never go to (Victoria Gardens) so i ended up going into Urban Outfitters. Found the following

Niki & The Dove - Instinct 2LP (Green vinyl exclusive)
Father John Misty - Fear Fun (Blue vinyl exclusive)

There was also the new Hot Chip 2LP on Red and Blue vinyl (exclusive?), but the sleeve was pretty banged up. Anyone know how often they get exclusives? I never go into that store, so not sure if it's worth making a trip every once in a while. There's one across the street from amoeba, but it never crosses my mind to go into it.

Woah. Yeah, I never even think to check Urban, but I do know I got an Altamont catalog from there because it had an exclusive No Age 10" once. Definitely something to check out.

    Arriving today via Amazon:

The Gun Club - Pastoral Hide and Seek
The Gun Club - Lucky Jim

    Never heard either. Incredibly excited.

Urban gets quite a few exclusives. Grimes Visions on purple vinyl is pretty cool. Father John Misty Fear Fun on this sweet turquoise blue, Feist's reminder on red.. some others. They also have alot of picture discs but not sure if those are exclusive. It's worth checking their website everyone once in awhile to see - they always list their exclusives on it.

That and the Roy Orbison record that I found recently are both so goddamn good. They're both a little beat up but still sound fine and the songs man, the songs.

Frank Ocean - Channel Orange arrived today. I'm listening to it now. It's 2 LP's and the back has the full track listing with song times on the back and in the bottom corner it says "limited edition". It sounds great vocally and musically BUT there is subtle static that can be heard coming in during the quiet parts on occasion. I want to stress it's very subtle but absent on other new vinyl i've tested so it's not a dirty needle and the records are shiny clean. I'm playing it fairly loud and loving it so it's not ruining the experience at all. This was ordered on Discogs from a seller in Germany.

Is that Roy Orbison disc on Monument, or had he already switched to MGM? If not Monument, it's gotta be his first or second MGM release. Nice.

I believe it's the second MGM record. It's split between orchestral pop stuff and recordings with his new band the Candy Men. On the orchestral stuff his voice just BOOMS. It's a beautiful record, I'm gonna listen to it a ton.

So there's a new seller on discogs that has every Boredoms release I don't yet own for incredibly decent prices. That makes me nervous, as I've never seen the Rebore series for less than $20 apiece.

Is it worth the risk? It's not like eBay where they have buyer protection in place.

If it's a US seller it's worth a try. Just be aware that if you want to get your money back from Paypal, you have to file q claim less than one month after purchase. I got robbed of $60 by a British seller who had 99% positive feedback and now has 94% positive (ripped off a lot of people)
