I was completely shocked. Some guy had just sold off parts of his collection...a ton of Ornette records, a bunch of Albert Ayler, a handful of blues. Plus there were a ton of great soul records too. I put a handful aside to buy in a couple of weeks. I wanted to buy everything but that obviously wouldn't be feasible financially.

To answer your question, both were $12. They are in great shape. First press, all that. The one that is being reissued for RSD sells for a ton I guess. That value will drop with the reissue, but I'm really excited to own it.

And I'll be up in Berkeley for Moot Court in two weeks, staying with Michael and his girlfriend. I really want to hear that Hot Snakes album. Lets make that happen.
Hot Snakes and Birthday Party are both represses. I got them at 1-2-3-4 Go!, along with that Hard Skin record, which is fucking awesome (and the reason I stopped in in the first place.) I'll send you a link to download via Facebook. I guess the Birthday Party represses are limited to 500, which is annoying...I didn't check to see if they had Prayers on Fire or anything else because this was the only one prominently displayed. Hot Snakes was $10.98, Birthday Party was $18.98.

I got the Ornette record (and most of the other records I listed) for $8 at this local shop that is pretty incredible. He has tons of hard-to-find stuff, and while it can get expensive, it is all priced fairly. It isn't a first pressing, but I think it is the first repress (the guy at the store said you can tell it is a repress because it has a non-lacquered cover and their isn't a cutout so you can see the Pollack thing on the inside.)

Let me know when you are coming and we can definitely listen to tunezzz/drink beer. And I'll trade you Country Life for Let It Be.

Boom, I like the way you think. EDIT: blast, two weeks is Coachella weekend 1. What days are you up, Bryan? I really would love it if we could fanagle a record club session while you're up.

Andrew, I'm amazed you got both those for 12 each. Incredible. Those original Vanguard presses generally go much higher. Shoot, the single RSD reissue will be 24. Really impressive score.

Hrmmm, Bryan, if you did mean Coachella 1 weekend, there are a few of us here who are not going - Salah, Sunni, me, Drew, maybe a few others? Should hang out if you have the time. Tunes & beers are good things to share.

Edit: obviously, I mean, if you can't make it on a day that Greg can host record club. Because you should definitely do that. Greg is an excellent host.

Oh snap, I forgot, I did mean Weekend 1 of Coachella. I'll be busy on Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning, but I'll be free (I think?) Sunday night, and I"m flying back on Monday. Lets shoot for Sunday maybe?

Florence + the Machine - Ceremonials LP (found it new for $12 bucks!)

Big Sir - Und Die Scheiße Ändert Sich Immer LP

RHCP - Californication LP (blast from the past)

Murder City Devils - Every Day I Rise b/w Ball Busters in the Peanut Gallery 7"

My wife bought Bjork's Crystaline's remixes by Omar Suleiman thinking it was the actual LP from Bjork. You should have seen her face when she played it, she was pissed.

Sigh. I kind of want to get that, but I am getting annoyed by their new stamped-white-label-promo thing.

Trying to think of everything I recently bought...

Beat Happening - Jamboree (first press)
Big Black - Songs About Fucking (first press)
Black Flag - Jealous Again 12" (first press)
Buddy Holly - A Rock & Roll Collection (cool 2LP comp from the 70s)
Casual Victim Pile - Matador 2LP Austin Comp
    FIDLAR - No Waves 7"
Kraftwerk - Tour de France US 12" (first)
    Mikal Cronin - s/t
    Mikal Cronin - Tide 7"
Nite Jewel - One Second of Love (limited white press)
    Sex Cult - Nashville's Dead 7"
Ty Segall / The Feeling of Love - Tour split 7"
    Ty Segall - Melted

There's probably more and I just forget.

Is this the one with the black jacket, opens with "Rave On"? I like that comp, it has a lot of great tracks not found on most of Buddy's greatest hits collections. "You're So Square (Baby I Don't Care)" is probably my favorite of the under-the-radar tracks.

No Age just put up Collage Culture, their experimental collab with some poets on PPM. First 50 orders are on opaque purple vinyl. Get on that shit.

It is! And that's one of my favorite BH songs, too!

And Bryan...I ordered that No Age thing a few days ago. Hope I get the purple. I got the gold of the Wives demos they just put out.

447 records off craigslist last night.... all 12" and nothing past the 70s - all for $75

Mostly jazz, blues, classical, country, a weird facial hair pop rock genre, and soundtracks, but deff a number of gems... So far ive picked out an original Beatles - Abbey Road, 2 Zeppelins, Yardbirds - Overundersidewaysdown, some Creedence, ELO, and a bunch of others... really overwhelmed, but excited.

Wow, nice. That's my favorite way to pick up records. I generally keep a few dozen gems and then sell the rest in lots. If you're interested in selling any of the blues LPs, list them and let me know. I'm always in the market for blues, r&b, & soul, and I don't lowball.

I'm still interested in some of those 45s if you're still interested in selling them. We'll be passing through LA next week on the way to and from Coachella, perhaps arrange a meeting?

ahhh man that's perfect.... I live about 20 minutes south of LA, but if you wanna hang wed night before your more than welcome to cruze on by. Let me know. Otherwise maybe we can link up after the fest. Spent a good portion of last weekend cleaning up those 45s and putting them in sleeves. The soap and water worked wonders.

Went to the post office today to get some things waiting for me:

Magnetic Fields - Love at the Bottom of the Sea
Aphex Twin - the Richard D. James Album

The drum tracks on Aphex are mindblowing. They just explode. Best purchase in a LONG time.

Once you get everything on there, Discogs is a great resource for it.
