Some band was lovely, it was the king of my night
There in the darkness with the radio playing low
And the secrets that we shared
    The mountains that we moved
Caught like a wildfire out of control
'Til there was nothing left to burn and nothing left to prove
And I remember what she said to me
How she swore that it never would end
I remember how she held me oh so tight
Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then

    Against the wind
We were runnin' against the wind

We were young and strong, we were runnin'
    Against the wind

    The years rolled slowly past
    And I found myself alone
Surrounded by strangers I thought were my friends

I found myself further and further from my home

And I guess I lost my way
There were oh so many roads
I was living to run and running to live

Never worryied about paying or even how much I owed
Moving eight miles a minute for months at a time
Breaking all of the rules that would bend
I began to find myself searching
Searching for shelter again and again

    Against the wind
A little something against the wind
I found myself seeking shelter sgainst the wind

Well those drifter's days are past me now
I've got so much more to think about
    Deadlines and commitments
What to leave in, what to leave out

    Against the wind
I'm still runnin' against the wind

I'm older now but still runnin' against the wind

Well I'm older now and still runnin'

    Against the wind

    Against the wind

    Against the wind

    Still runnin'

I'm still runnin' against the wind

    I'm still runnin'

I'm still runnin' against the wind

    Still runnin'

    Runnin' against the wind

    Runnin' against the wind

    See the young man run

    Watch the young man run

    Watch the young man runnin'

He'll be runnin' against the wind

    Let the cowboys ride
    Let the cowboys ride
They'll be ridin' against the wind
    Against the wind ..

The bigger issue here to me is awarding something as "best" when art is completely objective. Same goes for the Oscars.

Best and most notable nomination I've seen is for the ATCQ doc being nominated for best long form video. Congrats to Rapaport.

Also Cee Lo got nominated for something so I'm not mad at that.

Fleet Foxes got nominated for best Folk Album, never thought I would see them in the same category as Eddie Vedder.

    From MTV:

Yes, there were some surprises, such as Justin Vernon's sedate folkie solo project Bon Iver snagging four nominations
MTV also did some cute things with numbers - this was my favorite:

15: Number of instruments Vernon is credited with playing on the album.

6: Total number of instruments played by the other Best New Artist nominees (Skrillex, Nicki Minaj, J. Cole) on their albums, all of which go to country trio the Band Perry.

Yes, especially when you consider what an amazing year 1980 was in music. No I don't expect the mainstream hollywood pop world to be living on the cutting edge, but this just embarassing. Christopher Cross and Kenny Loggins in a year that saw the release of London Calling, Remain in Light, Second Edition, Pretenders, Get Happy!!, Dirty Mind, Entertainment!, etc etc.

It was nice to see Cut Copy, Robyn and Amy Winehouse get nominations. Not that they will win. Other than that the grammy's are more of a fucking joke than usual.

The fact that they have a best dance/electronica "album" with nominees like deadmau5 and skrillex is yet more evidence of how out of touch the Grammy's are.

Most EDM producer albums are just a repackaging of single releases in an attempt to squeeze a couple more dollars out of them.

So far, Skrillex has won 3 Grammys tonight for the pre-telecast thing.

    -Best Dance Recording
    -Best Dance/Electronica Album
    (both beat out Robyn..FUUUUU)

-and for his remix of Benny Benassis CINEMA (which I approve of, because that remix is friggin awesome).

And Louis C.K. won best Comedy album.

Yes we know, we get it, the Grammys are out of touch with music. It's been that way for a long long time. When will some of you just start pretending that it doesn't exist? Complaining and making fun of the Grammys is sort of like making fun of Ozzfest for not booking acts like Bon Iver. It's just not what they do, so why even pay attention?

ps Arcade Fire won again for Best Recording Package

    Who. Cares.

I dont quite know what constitutes an "Alternative" album anymore, but Bon Iver, Bon Iver is the best out of that bunch if I had to pick. It'd be a different story if the other 5 tracks from KoL were a part of that record.

But really, these arn't the "Spooks jerks off to this music while walking around NYC awards", which would be equally as irrelevant as the Grammys are.

Mainstream country: 80s power ballads with cowboy hats. I half expected Joe Cocker to walk out during that duet.
