However, because so much of her appeal comes from the raw and deeply personal lyrics in her songs I wonder how her sophomore album will fare.

Oh man, if you think 21 is emotionally raw, check out her first record. I legitimately have a hard time getting all the way through; it's all put out there for you to see and processing that much hurt takes its toll.

Thank God for DVRs. Think I actually watched 30 minutes of the entire 3 hours.

Bonnie Raitt looks exactly as she did 15-20 years ago. Still sounds great, too.

Is Bruno Mars... transgender? It's not an insult, but a genuine question. He is, right?

That was a pretty shaky performance by Adele. The big notes were fine, but those are always the easiest. She sounded so shaky during the verses. I wonder if she was just nervous and not breathing properly or if this her new post-surgery voice.

I can assure you she was nervous and not breathing. She suffers from massive, nearly-crippling stage fright, and I imagine making her post-surgery return on (sort of) live television was a bit unsettling.

Speaking of that performance when does the fiver play brostep, or something that sounds close to brostep?

Lastly when did Nicki Minaj become stranger then Lady Gaga?
Deadmau5 did a remix for foo fighters.........

Wow, Chris Brown won for best r&b album.

    ...

Well, I mean, it IS a pretty solid album. It had loads of hit singles in one form or another.

Still bummed Robyn didn't win anything.
Skrillex got both of her awards, damnit!

Why would Deadmau5 play "Raise Your Weapon?" Not only is that his worst song but he's not a Dubstep producer. He got famous off of producing Progressive House/ Electro tracks so why the hell would he play that shit? And don't even get me started on Guetta. Standing there pretending like he's actually doing something while Chris Brown sings over a vocal track. Horrible.

The real question is will she be able to write a good album if she is in a happy relationship, which she is right now? Did you guys see her on 60 mins before the grammys? They discussed that on there. She is pretty funny btw.
Let's go on a livin' spree!

My thoughts exactly (assuming you were talking about Nicki Minaj). I don't know what the Catholic church is so upset about. It made no sense.

I was talking about her speaking voice and when she accepted her award. I have no issues with Adele's singing voice. I think she has a pretty singing voice. I think she's artistically boring and i'm not a fan of hers. I will also clarify the vile creature remark. She was dripping snot from her noise and I thought it was vile that she brought attention to it.

I apologize to all of the Adele fans here for the insults I made to the beautiful being, Adele.

    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

But, if there's one thing that I remember VERY clearly, it was accepting the Grammy for Best Rock Performance...and then saying this:

"To me this award means a lot because it shows that the human element of music is what's important. Singing into a microphone and learning to play an instrument and learning to do your craft, that's the most important thing for people to do... It's not about being perfect, it's not about sounding absolutely correct, it's not about what goes on in a computer. It's about what goes on in here [your heart
and what goes on in here [your head]."

Not the Gettysburg Address, but hey......I'm a drummer, remember?

Well, me and my big mouth. Never has a 33 second acceptance rant evoked such caps-lock postboard rage as my lil' ode to analog recording has. OK....maybe Kanye has me on this one, but....Imma let you finish....just wanted to clarify something...

I love music. I love ALL kinds of music. From Kyuss to Kraftwerk, Pinetop Perkins to Prodigy, Dead Kennedys to Deadmau5.....I love music. Electronic or acoustic, it doesn't matter to me. The simple act of creating music is a beautiful gift that ALL human beings are blessed with. And the diversity of one musician's personality to the next is what makes music so exciting and.....human.

That's exactly what I was referring to. The "human element". That thing that happens when a song speeds up slightly, or a vocal goes a little sharp. That thing that makes people sound like PEOPLE. Somewhere along the line those things became "bad" things, and with the great advances in digital recording technology over the years they became easily "fixed". The end result? I my humble opinion.....a lot of music that sounds perfect, but lacks personality. The one thing that makes music so exciting in the first place.

And, unfortunately, some of these great advances have taken the focus off of the actual craft of performance. Look, I am not Yngvie Malmsteen. I am not John Bonham. Hell...I'm not even Josh Groban, for that matter. But I try really fucking hard so that I don't have to rely on anything but my hands and my heart to play a song. I do the best that I possibly can within my limitations, and accept that it sounds like me. Because that's what I think is most important. It should be real, right? Everybody wants something real.

I don't know how to do what Skrillex does (though I fucking love it) but I do know that the reason he is so loved is because he sounds like Skrillex, and that's badass. We have a different process and a different set of tools, but the "craft" is equally as important, I'm sure. I mean.....if it were that easy, anyone could do it, right? (See what I did there?)

So, don't give me two Crown Royals and then ask me to make a speech at your wedding, because I might just bust into the advantages of recording to 2 inch tape.

Now, I think I have to go scream at some kids to get off my lawn.

    Stay frosty.

I really wish Adele had made it to Coachella. This Royal Albert Hall performance right now is killing me.
