Definitely worth trying. I got on the rail in front of the Big Man at the Glendale show in 2009. You just never know if you'll get that chance again.

Theres two of us going, so that increases both of our chances?
Or is it every man for himself?

Not really. They draw a number and the line starts with that number. So say 700 people get a lottery wristband and number 567 gets drawn. Then 567-700 are now the front of the line followed by 1-566. You guys should probably be sure to get your bands at the same time.

Holy crap last nights show was one of the best Brce shows out of the 20 something I've seen. And I've seen some epic ones... Last night it felt like they just kept going. Played very tighty, the new additions are great, make a fuller sound. They've still got it!!!

Had a lot of fun. I got a great spot in front of Bruce on the Little Steven side, about three people deep. I'll throw some pictures up in a little while. "My Love Will Not Let You Down" is so awesome.

Only in 1999. But if it any consolation my mom said the same and she has been going since 1975.

But in terms of modern ESB, it was up there with even the WIESS and River shows, which I didn't think any show would come close to again.

I'm not sure if my sarcasm meter isn't working, but I'm just assuming you see it as a positive testament to the power of the E Street Band.

Let's face it, it's very rare when a band can continue kicking ass as hard as they did 40 years ago. Luckily for us E Street fans, they manage to pull it off. And having such an amazing catalog to draw from, its really great that they pull from almost every album.

Thundercrack was so awesome last night. Talk about an old one!

    No sarcasm at all.

I first saw them in 1980, and I've seen them about 10 times since. I've been skeptical in recent years/tours and so I'm glad to hear they're hitting new (old) levels.

I made a sign for that song (with LOOSE ENDS on the flip side) when I last saw them in St. Louis.

Didn't get either one. Oh well.
We're here to play some Mississippi Delta Blues. We're in a horrible depression, and I gotta admit - we're starting to like it.

so in like 1985 I got this Bruce bootleg where side 1 was studio outtakes from BITUSA plus a really tinny live recording of "Dancing in the Dark". The only remarkable thing was the extended guitar solo on "Born in the USA" that took that song to a different place that was pretty cool.

But side 2 was 4 new songs: "This Hard Land", "My Love Will Not Let You Down", "Murder Inc", and "Frankie". Holy shit that was good, I loved these songs so much, and for the life of me I could not understand why he was withholding them from the public. And I still don't think I know why he didn't, until the Tracks box set at least. Sometimes it seems like Bruce overthinks things and psychs himself out of releasing stuff that he really should just find a way to release.

Bruce played Janey Don't You Lose Heart for my sign at Giants Stadium 08. That was one of the best moments of my life.

Good thing he realized how good these songs are and gave us Tracks. So many gems on that release. Santa Ana, Seaside Bar Song, Frankie, Janey... the list goes on.

I was just about to post, Bruce recorded Janey Don't You Lose Heart at the same time as the rest of that stuff. Another really great song. WTF was he thinking? he worried too much about stuff hanging together on an album as a unified work and sacrificed a lot of really good stuff in the process.

That whole process -- of overthinking the "album" and shelving countless great song after countless great song -- is really the underlying theme of the whole Darkness film and box set that came out in 2010. In the film, Steve calls it a "tragedy" that Bruce didn't put out more of that Darkness and River era stuff because he could have been seen as one of the great pop songwriters of all time. Even "The Promise" -- for my money, one of his five best songs, and one that would have fit perfectly on Darkness -- got left on the sidelines because it didn't feel right to Bruce at the time.

I have been into Springsteen since I was a 12 year old kid. I've still never seen a show.

Very true. But at the same time, I don't think I'd change anything about those first 5 albums (except maybe swap out Crush on You for Loose Ends or Where the Bands Are like Bruce always jokes should have happened). But the point is, we have ALL those tracks now, and its great that he plays them sometimes over the years. At least they aren't B-sides that were shoved under the rug and then released to make a profit but never truly acknowledged. Bruce makes a point to keep alot of those songs in rotation, and its great!

50% of that setlist was from The River, which had just been released a couple months earlier. You think anyone complained that he should have just 'played the hits'? LOL

My boss went last night and was raving about the show this morning. She said the same thing about it being one of the best, if not the best, Bruce shows she's ever seen.

Tom, her first Springsteen show was right around yours as well. Same tour and all that. I really wanted to go to the SJ show but I forgot tix went on sale and everything but tickets behind the stage was gone by the time I remembered four days later. Sigh. Next leg of the tour. I need to get my first Bruce show out of the way.

Seats behind the stage really aren't that bad, but not for $120. He's one of the last people who actually uses those.

About a week after (or maybe it was before) that show I saw Talking Heads touring on Remain in Light in an 800 capacity club.

    That was a good month.
