Sasquatch Festival 2012

For me besides being one of the most beautiful spots in the world to see a concert the best thing at Sasquatch in The Gorge is no flipping security check to go into camping. You can bring whatever you want and then just keep things cool and pretty much anything is OK. Not like Coachella where they act like you are a terrorist attempting to smuggle in weapons of mass destruction! Security at Coachella is a bit ridiculous.

Security at the Gorge do come off as a bit harsh though when they do searches for entering the grounds, that could just be security in general. Lots of the staff there aren't really into it where as at Coachella almost everyone wants to be there. My biggest complaint, as I have said before, is the lack of half decent food there. Spicy Pie in the campgrounds was great, but inside the venue they had two or three vegetarian options to buy: quesadillas, really overpriced pizzas, and the nachos were vegetarian but disgusting and lacked any food value. I really wish Sasquatch would allow food vendors into the Gorge.

I am also old...55:-) I bring a battery operated sound machine and with that thing next to my pillow I sleep through everything. Last year we were about 4 cars from the buses that were doing the dance party thing at Sasquatch and everyone else in our camp bitched and moaned that they could not get any sleep but I slept at least 6 hours each night. The sound machine is seriously one of the most important things I take to music festivals. The Aussies we adopted our first year at Coachella laughed at me the first 2 nights but Saturday night one of them slept in our big tent cuddling with my daughter and he became a believer because of how how easy it was to sleep with it blocking out the sound around you. I am just afraid I will miss something amazing in the main campground if I camp at Wildhorse:-)

I feel you. I don't know if policy has changed since 2010 (the year I went) but we could enter the main camp freely even though we were staying at WH. I'm not against the idea of staying in the main camp (my original post was an exaggeration). It's just what I prefer.

Camping staff or festival staff? Security was more or less non-existent when entering the festival in 2010. I even told one of them that they didn't need to search me. He just nodded and sent me on my way.
Also, as I stated earlier, the food at WH is excellent. They really take care of their tenants.

I didn't see much of the camping staff, I was talking about the festival staff; they just didn't seem too into it. I felt security in 2011 had a presence at the gate, but they did let me take in the food I bought at the store, which was very handy.

How much is it to camp there?
What are the pros and cons?

I don't remember the cost. I know it wasn't expensive.
Pros:
1. Good food.
2. Shuttle to and from the Gorge (it's about a mile away I think).
3. Hot showers.
4. Respectful people.

Cons: You can't blast your music and be super loud all night (although that's not really a con for a lot of people). Can't think of anything else at the moment.

I believe last year the spot was $100 for 4 people. So $25 each really.

The food inside the festival is terrible, and everyone who had gone before told me that and I didn't listen and then I really wished that I had planned ahead. They let you bring food (in clear plastic baggies) to the festival, though. So bring in better food.

And I really want to go back. I hate that this conflicts with DEMF.

Yeah, you really can't overstress the shittiness of the food there, I'm pretty sure half of the crowd last year was fed by the free SoyJoy bars alone. Bring in your own food.

I do too but I'm not sure we can afford the flights and hotel for demf cause we're saving for sonar and Sasquatch is camping w/a drive so we *might* attend (a couple of close friends are going too so it would be a nice excuse to hang out with them). It all depends on the lineup in the end.

Had our tickets by 10:01AM:-) My oldest daughter got hers today too but my youngest is waiting for the regular sale I guess.


Bringing food into the event is seriously the only way to go and the other posts here are right, the food inside the event is NOT WORTH BUYING! Use gallon zip lock bags and you can bring in anything. We brought fresh pineapple, watermelon, cheese, crackers, pistachios, etc. and we made it fine until we got back to the campground. They say no coolers inside but I brought in a soft cooler bag each day and our low festival chairs have an insulated pocket perfect for zip lock bags of goodies. Plan ahead for this and you will have a much better experience in the Gorge.

Pretty much everything organization-wise was worse in 2011 than 2010 so I really hope it doesn't continue down this road. Things I'm referring to include worse line up, smaller dance tent, less porta potties and fewer water stations.

The festival is run by live nation though so these things aren't surprising. Spend less, make more money.

I am planning a 2-3 week trip so even if the lineup isn't as great as I hope, the trip will be worth it. Otherwise I probably wouldn't have bought it instantly like I did

He was interested in it but was lineup dependable so 3 others reserved the spots.

Yeah i didn't know they had a new album coming out until I saw that it leaked today, so that would be cool since I missed them at Coachella.( I think it was something Sahara related that I would regret if I remembered what it was)

Skipped them at Coachella for Cut Copy (which was one of my favorite sets ever).

We opted to see them two nights in a row in Vegas because we figured something great would be going on during their Coachella set.
