Sasquatch Festival 2012

The funny/shitty thing is, as of June 1st liquor will no longer be run by the state, and privately owned stores like Walmart will be carrying it. The festival is a week too early! Sasquatch 2013 booze shopping will be that much more convenient haha.

Wow. That's funny & good to know for next year, since we have pretty had to make up our mind that we're going to Sasquatch next year too (not Coachella). Thanks for the liquor store info. So, is it Fife or Tacoma?

Fife is it's own town, but it only really exists because it sits on the Port of Tacoma. It's only a few miles long and downtown Tacoma is right accross a bridge from it.

Third Man will try to say the most metaphors per concert

Yesterday, Jack White got some sassy return fire from Guinness World Records, who he claimed was an "elitist organization" for allegedly turning down the White Stripes' 2007 bid for World's Shortest Performance with their one-note concert in St. John's, Newfoundland. Guinness retorted, in a statement, that the Stripes had in fact been included, but that the category had to be nixed after a zillion bands began submitting their challenges to the White Stripes' title. The group suggested that White figure out a new record to set.

Last night, White and Third Man issued a hilarious statement, accepting Guinness' "challenge," vowing to "break the world record for most metaphors in a single concert" and effectively un-grounded the rest of the Jack White tour from any semblance of reality:

The attempt may prove very exhausting and at times even dangerous, but the results could prove to be glorious and possibly even vainglorious. White and Third Man Records are certain that the extremely scientific and intricate analysis of the metaphors that occur will be examined in accordance with Guinness' usually very thorough methods probably, or at the very least if somebody answers the phone at the pub.

Third Man Records encourages all attendees of said concerts to please not interfere or interject with any metaphors that they witness occur during the show as to not disqualify or worse yet, trivialize the metaphor in question. In addition all concert attendees are encouraged to entice as many metaphors to occur during the show that they possibly can as long as they don't endanger themselves or Mr. White.

Take that, elitists! We'll be seeing Mr. White perform at Hangout Fest this weekend, and you can bet we'll be counting those metaphors (but no similes!)

What comedians is everyone trying to see? I know I will be at beardyman, although he is more of a artist then comedian.

We will also be checking out Beardyman and at least a bit of Portlandia. Not sure if we can make it to any of the others due to schedule conflicts though.

It weirds me out that Beardyman is listed as a comedian and is playing at 2pm. I know he has jokes and stuff, but people will be dancing.

I'll be checking out most of Todd Barry after seeing the end of Howlin Rain. He's funny stuff.

Man...I'm getting so fucking anxious to see what everything looks like this year. My new favorite activity when I first arrive is rounding the path toward the entrance and seeing what the dance tent looks like each year. Since it's been changing and growing ever since it's inception in 2009, I can only think and hope that it's going to be bigger and fancier yet again. Really curious to see if any of the other side stages will be improved upon as well. The Yeti has always been the biggest joke of a festival stage I've ever seen, and the Bigfoot really, really needs a better sound system. Also, apparently Live Nation put out some release saying better/cheaper food and beverage options will be available. Something about food trucks (yay!) and even $4 beers. We'll see what it's all really about...
