I'm definitely looking forward to checking out of work for a week.

From what I have read they dont have a campground search, just when you enter the fest. I hope the line isnt like coachella, we get there before gates open and it still takes hours lol.
Thats what I have read but would love somebody thats been confirm that. I also read that the overfill lot is closer so I am a little confused.
I have read the overfill lot is closer too, but someone earlier in this thread said they'd probably just put us off in a section within the main campground with other RVs, which would be nice. More room!
It's like a 20 min walk.
EDIT-Sorry you want distance, maybe 1/2 mile.

anyone driving from seattle on friday with room?

Last year they did not fill the area to the east of the food area in the campground until late if at all and we moved up to that area and were much closer to the venue, showers, general store, etc. It is a little more lax at the gorge than any other concert venue I have camped before.
Thats good to hear. I just need to make sure when I park the RV is pointed at a road or exit and not somebodys tent. We have to leave early Tuesday morning and I dont want to have to run over people and tents on way out.
The campground is set up so that you will have a clear driving lane in front of you and one in back of you so leaving anytime should be no issue for anyone.
Here is an overview of the area with a full camping area. Most people find it pretty interesting that the camping area is circular:-)

No searches entering the campground.
As a general rule, the earlier you arrive, the closer to the entrance you are, but this is not always true.
The gates open before 5 in previous years. Apparently they don't let you line up before it opens so you might have to drive around for a little while if you get there too early. I have never had to wait more than an hour in line to get into camping, I have heard people say they have waited as long a 2 hours before though.
Overflow isn't really closer or further than any random spot in the grounds. It is closer than the furthest spot in normal camping, but there are also spots in normal camping closer to the venue than overflow. There is also grass in overflow that is very good at eating things you drop like keys and wallets.
The campground is 2 beers away from the venue.
I'll be taking a mixed drink even though Mark says I am not allowed to drink during the day. I think a morning cocktail on the way in will be great! So hopefully it will just take one mixed drink to get there.
Oh, inthecolumbiagorge, thanks for the aerial shot. I'm enjoying looking at it!
Make sure the mixed drink is in a bottle with a lid so you can pop it into your bag or pocket for a second. There's a place where you cross a road and there are dudes there telling you that you either have to chug your drink or dump it out. This place is just after you pass the general store, and before you start on the windy part of the path. Pop the drink into your bag there, then pull it out after you pass them. It's not serious at all, I've walked past them holding a beer before and they didn't see me, but just a heads up.
For being 2 weeks away this thread is as dead as the Sasquatch message board. Lets get a little more excited people.
