My card got declined 3 times, but I called my bank after the first time and got them to straighten it out. The WASTE site allowed me to keep trying, amazingly.

When I got mine, I just had an American Express card at the ready and I looked at the page in panic, said, "Ooooooooh shiiiiiiiiiiit!" and I scrambled around the house, accidentally letting the dogs loose so that they can wreck havoc, until I found a Visa card and charged that beast. It was pretty frightening.

How the hell do you guys keep encountering this whole business with getting your credit cards declined? I'm not trying to Supre you or anything, but who do you bank with that you're running into these problems? I think I had to tell my bank once that I was going out of the country & that there would be a lot of international purchases in a one-week time frame, and that was more than 2 years ago. Haven't updated them ever since and I never have these issues, and I've bought tickets on international websites at least 3 times this year alone. Are you maybe just not setting up a profile on those ticketing sites or not updating your credit card information ahead of when you plan to purchase? Just seems like there may be something you could do to remove this (unnecessary) aggravation from your lives.

You know what's worse is that I got a call asking to verify the charges I tried making during the presale, even though they were declined because I needed to have them approve international charges. Way to rub it in, small credit union.

Thats why you now know to call beforehand to make sure it doesnt get declined. Trust me, if it was ticketmaster, you wouldnt get 3 chances to try and pay for something.

I'm with a new bank now, so I didn't know how they would react to WASTE. And your point about Ticketmaster is moot since Ticketmaster is not an international purchase and would not be declined by my bank.

In any case, I realize that I was very lucky that WASTE was so patient with my purchase, lucky that my bank answered my call pretty quickly, lucky that I was able to get away with it all at work, and lucky that I happened to look at the Radiohead thread at the right time. I tried texting a couple people to alert them as well, but I don't think they ended up buying tickets.
