I guess the festival did feel like Coachella 2010 at times.

Just something I've noticed people comment on a bit.
This was precisely why I've stopped flying into Lolla, no matter how good the lineup has been, how well it's been run, and how much I respect Perry Farrell. That being said, this formula was more accurate a few years back, being that people traveled all the way to Coachella because they were music fanatics, whereas city festivals were an easy way to pass the weekend. Sadly, half the people now go to Coachella only because it's the cool thing to do, and thus when I went into OSL with even lower expectations this year, I came out pleasantly surprised by the overall civility and considerateness of the crowd.

Anyone check out Tom Morello and the Nightwatchman on early Sunday afternoon at the Sutro? That set was a pleasant surprise. I guess not too big of a surprise considering Tom Morello's jaw dropping guitar ability, I had tepid interest in the Nightwatchman CD's but they really put on a great show.

Closed out with a mind blowing Ghost of Tom Joad where Tom played his guitar frontward, backward, upside down, and with his teeth while sounding fantastic. He had the whole crowd jumping up and down during This Land is Your Land and then invited the entire crowd on stage for World Wide Rebel Songs. Security tried to keep us out but Tom was adamant and they eventually just gave up and let us on and we all had a huge party on stage on the Sutro.

Great way to start off Sunday.

You do realize that the solo he played at the end of Tom Joad was the solo he plays at the end of Promenade with Street Sweeper Social Club right? While it's still awesome to see him do it, it's something he's been doing for at least 3 years now.

    Was the beer extremely expensive?

Just wondering because craft beer at a bar/liquor store is expensive so I would assume the prices at a festival in San Francisco were probably like $12 per beer...

9 bucks but you had to buy tickets . At the ticket booth it said available in books of ten so most people got scammed , however you could ask for them in whatever amount you wanted. Pretty shady business practice

Overall I had a great time. Loved the food, beer and wine situation. Definitely the most crowded fest I've been to this year. I personally enjoyed the cold weather. Definitely could remain as an excuse to head up north, however I think TI will be a blast as well, even with an extremely underwhelming lineup.

there were also $10 and $12 beers. there was also a $3 tasting option. plenty of ways to make up multiples of 10. I wouldn't call that shady. it was damned expensive though. $9 for beers you can get for half that at a bar.

Yeah, but thats the same as any festival really. I was happy that you could get Sierra Nevada Pale Ale or Torpedo at all the beer tents. Major upgrade over the Heineken situation from last year.

Also, I only hit Beerlands once, but the guy sold me 18 tickets for two beers saying I would get screwed with the extra two if I purchased $20 in tickets. Which was pretty cool.

CoS did a decent write up of the festival.

Its funny to see that a bunch of OSL bands announced their next Bay Area shows right after the festival. I'm tempted to see Tame Impala again even though I didn't think they were that great on the main stage. I hope that was just a bad performance or too early in the day or something.

Totally random but its worth a shot.. I have a ticket stub from every show I've ever been to, and I'm trying to get a wristband from OSL. If anyone has one they don't want, I'll buy it off you for $5. Hit me up if anyone is interested...Thanks!

On my flight home I sat next to two girls who had VIP wristbands on. So if he was VIP then yes he would have a wristband, which then I would ask how he doesn't have it anymore. Also those girls said VIP was cool but not worth the extra couple hundred dollars.

Special thanks to Clean Vibes for keeping the park clean. One woman with a clean vibes jacket on saw me slumped against a tree on the bank waiting for my friends to get done pissing. She mouthed the words are you o.k. over the music & I reassured her woth an o.k . Hand signal.
The Sutro stage shouldve had some video screens. It was very difficult to get to a vantage point during many sets. Same for the other stage.
I too saw the Jack White Tom Morello performance in the woods which was a surprise indeed. Neil Young was however my favorite performance all weekend.
Monday morning my friends and I went to Fisherman's Wharf and ate fresh crab & seafood. Sadly there were no hush puppies to be found. We then left San Francisco & drove back to Vegas through Yosemite National Park which was of course beautiful. A very tiring drive back though.
Next year I'm going to budget some camping time in Yosemite.

I suppose I don't understand why someone would want a wristband for memorabilia to something that they weren't even a part of, then. But I'm just a lowly, wristbandless plebeian.
