Ive heard some reviews of beck being flat at bonnaroo so maybe monsters and men is the choice ? I know the walkmen put on a good show. Is beck really a top ten moment? Does anyone have beck experience
I've seen Beck 3 times. I will be going to Beck. His shows are dope.

How will Stevie's divorce affect his performance.

I finally got around to printing out my "custom PDF schedule" and map from the Outsides Land website. Nicely done, OSL site. I'm sacrificing a lot to go to this festival so I'm hoping for a super awesome time this weekend.

Unless if you have a Robin type weekend that she had last year, there is no possible way you wont have a good time. Even if the festival it self isn't up to your standards you are still going to be in San Francisco so that will make up for that. Enjoy

How strict is the security at OSL regarding alcohol? If I wrap a couple cans of beer in a beach towel will I be alright? Or do they do a really thorough check of backpacks?

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I don't want to read 73 pages looking for the answers.

Ha! I'm keeping my standards low this year, so I won't be disappointed. I'm also bringing an extra ID. I'm definitely going to make up for last year's mishaps by drinking a lot. Drunk Robin in full effect!

so the Neil Young sets he's played the last few nights have been cool with the new songs and all, but at OSL, I'm really hoping for Cowgirl In The Sand and/or Down By The River. He hasn't played those yet. Do you guys think we'll get either of them?

Either way, it's going to be an amazing show. The reviews pretty much all say they killed it, even if they don't play all the hits/best songs.

With the set time for Neil Young, I'd doubt we'd get both Cowgirl and Down by the River, and am kind of doubtful as to either.

I think I'm gonna try to sneak in a flask or two.. anyone know if they frisk you down?

  16. #2176

    Default Re: Outside Lands 2012

I was caught with a flask one day, but only because I was super lazy and just had it in my back pocket. I was frisked that day, and had to pour it out. I was a bit more cunning the next day, but never got a pat down, so it was moot.

Really, it's hit or miss, but be prepared for a quick pat down. I haven't seen them get too intense with their screening unless they find something on you - then they go the full monty.

No "Down by the River" would be unfortunate. When I saw him at Glasto a few years ago, in a set full of stellar moments, that was the best.

I saw this about a month ago and wasn't overly thrilled by it. There's a real imbalance between the performance footage and interview stuff. The most frustrating thing is that on a couple different occasions they cut to a shot from a camera attached to his mic that gives a really unflattering close up of neil's face/mouth. The second time they go to it there's even a fog spot from him breathing on it obstructing the shot and it annoyed the living hell out of me. The whole thing just felt really directionless to me but, hey, it's still Neil Young

I bought my shuttle passes with my tickets, well before I booked the hotel. Otherwise, I would be looking in that direction.

I'll probably just cab it to the Bill Graham.

If I were you, I would still take the bus to the festival and then take the shuttles home. You'll save yourself time and cabfare money. The shuttle will still be worth to take home rather than dealing with buses since you already paid for it.

Anyone looking to sell a shuttle pass, I'm open to buying. I'm staying all over the place and it'd be nice to just have that, in case.

Ladies, there's enough Bryan Mack to go around.

But yes, I haven't seen you (Corinna) in two years now. And I've missed the shit outta you and our good times. We should all have a ridiculous night on Saturday.

And, on another note, the new Neil Young song that Stereogum has up is ace. He's gonna be the set of the weekend.

Dude, where are you staying? You can crash at my pad if you want, I live pretty close to the park.

As for Neil, I'll be thrilled with anything off Tonight's the Night. I'm happy to see them playing "Fucking Up," Ragged Glory is underrated as hell.
