I wouldnt be too worried about something like OSL selling out quickly. Theyre still a young festival, and recovered nicely with some breaks in weather and doing 2 days one year to make sure they could keep pulling the event off. If they are going to stick to the weekend pass only when general onsale begins, a lot of people will not bite until a day by day breakdown and singles are sold. thats what happened last year, and probably the same this year. Same goes for Lollapalooza, despite having a top heavy line up, it didnt sell out until after they released single day tickets. Bonnaroo will take some time also, even though they will have some attractive acts near and at the top. A festival like Sasquatch sells out quickly because it has a giant handicap of a very limited capacity. If they were able to have like 50,000 people in their venue, then it would take longer to sell out with the kind of line up they put out last week.

I don't want to sound like a broken record here, but if anyone could recall the hotel that participated in the shuttle bus service to and from OSL that would be greatly appreciated by me. If you stayed there and particpated in it, your review would be greatly appreciated !
I want to know too! I want to say the shuttle pick up was near Bill Graham, but I'm not definitely sure.

Robin & Choice Cat, I'm pretty sure all the information about getting to/from the festival, where to stay, etc. are covered in the past years Outside Lands festvial threads. So use the search feature and look through those threads.

It doesn't matter. The same questions and conversations will be rehashed, and rehashed, and rehashed again.

I went last year and I plan on asking about places to stay this year if the lineup is good. The hotel room we had was pretty good, but I'd like something closer if possible.

Real question is with festivals selling out like they are this year will this sell out the entire weekend? And if so, how long will it take?
What on earth are you talking about? I paid $330 for two eager beaver tickets last year. Weren't tickets $275 (so, $550 for two) during GA? The difference there seems a lot larger than $20.

I think that the initial tickets were $180 to start and then jumped up to $200 on the second price jump.

Let the Sigur Ros rumors begin. And the Green Day ones too. Also the New Order demands.

I don't see green day, rihanna, sigur ros or new order playing OSL. death cab seems likely though.

If Kings of Leon can play OSL, I think Green Day can. And I mean, theyre from SF, you forget about that?

Disagree big time. All of bands could be there just fine. Green Day being from SF makes so much sense too.

No, Rihanna belongs at Lolla, which I wouldnt be suprised if she was at. OSL doesnt get that pop mainstream. New Order is pushing it, besides, all the stupid kids going would have no idea who they were til they heard Blue Monday and say ''wait, so they do a cover of that song?''

Rihanna wouldn't be too huge of a surprise. They did bring the black eye peas a few years back. I really hope it doesn't happen tho

I didn't see any cross over from last years' line-up but all the posters that I am looking at say And many more.... so I could be missing some bands. So I don't know how likely any of these bands would be.

I would say that Rhianna as a headliner would be a huge surprise to me and would probably scare all the hippies away.

At the same time Passion Pit seems like they would fit right in at OSL. I just hope that the lead singer can actually sing now.

They took place the same weekend last year.

This year, it's a week apart.

2008: Radiohead - Tom Petty - Jack Johnson
2009: Pearl Jam - Dave Matthews Band - Beastie Boys (replaced by Tenacious D)
2010: Further - Kings Of Leon (only 2 days)
    2011: Muse - Phish - Arcade Fire

Those are all of the past headliners to refresh everybody's memory.

EDIT: Rihanna is NOT headlining. And I'm still doubtful of Green Day...

Well, that makes sense. Doh for not checking dates.

SBTRKT, Passion Pit, DCFC, and Grouplove all fit the bill for an OSL band. Looking over last years line-up, I was reminded that Grouplove played last year. I guess they have started to get big.

Good article discussing the economics of the festival.

Nice to see that the Mayor is a big supporter.

Looks like it was about 60,000 people per day, but I would say it was probably more like 80,000 to 90,000 on Saturday with the other two days being much lighter.

Nice read. Saturday last year was easily way more packed then the other 2 days. The crowd for Muse was huge.

On Saturday there were twice as many people as Sunday. And it was the first day to sell out. My friend read in the paper that there were 110,000 people on Saturday but I can't find that anywhere and that seems high.

How many people did you think were there on Saturday?
