I may be doing Oakland, may be Livermore, but I may very well hit you up on that.
Walk to Fillmore or Divis and take the 22 or the 24 inbound til you hit Geary and then take the 38.
What ever happened to people looking at a fucking map?

I am pretty much an idiot with spatial directions. I should probably peruse a map soon. I have begun color-coding a map of the festival grounds, but I have not looked into how to get there on Saturday. Can you PM me the general way I will get there on Saturday, Cara?
Double post, sorry. I am finally going through Neil Young & Crazy Horse's recent covers album Americana, and one of the songs is "Tom Dula," one of the songs my dad used to sing to me when I was little. Ahh nostalgia.I am starting to really look forward to this set.
FOR ALL IN NEED OF DIRECTIONS
Google maps makes it really easy people. But instead of typing in your location and the festival location, we get someone on every page asking for specific directions from their specific spot. Google maps even has transit listed when you zoom in. Simple drag the mouse over the bus stop icon and it tells you all the buses that stop there. Cross reference with the SFMTA (MUNI) site and bingo! The laziness in some of these threads makes for boring reading and is a general turn-off. If all y'all are such buddies, pick up a f*cking phone and call each other to figure out logistics instead of dragging the sh*t on for pages here. General tip, take any bus/train that goes WEST, then get off approx where the festival is and walk North or South depending on which side of the park you are on (its one big grid once you pass Stanyan). Unless you wait to leave for the festival until 4-5pm, getting there should be pretty easy. Getting home is gonna suck. You may luck out and hop right on a bus, or you may get stuck for a bit. Prepare mentally, know your options and have a last resort plan.
And for the occassional dopes asking about how to sneak in a drink... Get a clue.
Hope everyone is ready for some fun. I'm really excited for this year. I don't think all 3 days have been sold-out like this before, so it's probably gonna be really busy. Due to some life changing events, I'm going to be taking it super easy this year, lots of camping out at the main stage and just general energy conservation (or at least, that's the plan).
Who's in for White Denim first thing on Friday?
Unless the refinery fire is in the pacific ocean, the air for the fest should be fine.
Me me me! I'm so excited for White Denim, one of the acts that this festival has helped me discover. Their newest album "D" is fucking amazing. I plan on being at the festival at gates open, wandering around, getting intoxicated and kicking my weekend off with an awesome set from White Denim!![]()

I find google maps to be really accurate for SF public transit. (I never use 511). But, it assumes that you don't mind walking a small distance.
Connecting to the 38 isn't really much faster, since you'd have to wait for the connection, and still have to walk from Geary. I'd do the 28, and get off on Crossover Dr. Otherwise as guedita said, take a connection to the 38 (or 31 or 5). It's going to be 40+ min no matter what.
Maybe this will be helpful - note that there aren't many stops

I'm coming from Phoenix, how should I get to Golden Gate Park?
Does it get chilly in San Francisco? Also, how is the ocean water? Cold?

I am a HUGE Neil fan, but if you come expecting Live Rust stuff (or even Harvest Moon stuff), you will be disappointed.
A brief history:
Saw him in '84 in his country phase and he played a bunch of country crap from his latest album and about 2-4 old hits.
Saw him in '89ish in his garage phase and he played a bunch of garage crap from his latest album and about 2-4 old hits.
Saw him in '03ish backing some gawd-awful concept album and he played a THAT WHOLE ALBUM (complete with some ridiculous high school play looking set) and about 2-4 old hits.
I also saw a concert film in his computer phase in '82 and he played a bunch of crap from his latest album and about 2-4 old hits.
Now, I did see him acoustic in '89, not backing any album and that was solid. He played all hits (in a five-song set) at the 98 Bridge School that I saw and he did Cortez when he subbed in mid-concert for Eddie Vedder at this same polo field in '95. But, checking his set lists, it looks like the same old Neil. Looks like I'll be on the N Judah early. Damn!

It's not too bad on the way there. All of the nearby buses are a nightmare after the fest / near the end. Best to just accept that it's going to take you ages to get back downtown after wards, and that if you elect to hang out near the park for dinner or drinks, a lot of other people will have had the same idea...
Sorry Tubescape, but I've explored the options coming essentially from SFO. Looks like either BART to Civic Center, then the N Judah; CalTrain to SF and N Judah; or BART to Daly City and the 28 up 19th Ave., transferring to 29. Recommendations?
I want people throwing lamb chops into my mouth on Sunday.
