The lineup is much better than it has been the last year or two. I still think the inaugural year was much better though.
The forecast looks perfect.
This year the forecast looks like it will be mid-to-high 60's all three days, SUNNY (no clouds), with lows in the mid-50s.

Last year the temperature was cloudier and 10 degrees cooler each day.

But yes, bring layers folks!
I haven't gone to OSL the last two years, but yea, layers. If we're lucky, it will be sunny and "not cold" during the day. Best case, pants and a t-shirt will be comfortable. Once the sun starts to set, the wind kicks up and the fog rolls in. I'm bringing an extra long sleeve shirt, windbreaker, gloves, and hat. I think a lot of you are going to be surprised how cold it is at night in the park in August.
Mid-50's lows here don't feel like mid-50's lows inland. The wind is really cold, and the fog makes everything kind of damp. You're better off being burdened with a backpack with layers for the night than being forced to leave early due to being too cold.
Relatedly, if you're bringing a backpack, I recommend bringing a blanket if you plan to sit, because the ground can be kind of damp.
so do you think if i get to the main stage when the kills start, ill have a decent metallica spot or should i camp more?
Camp all day , you can use your slot in the waterbottle to relieve yourself.
The line-up is much stronger this year at the top. There are basically six headliners (Three main headliners and three Sasquatch level headliners). The headliners might not be to your taste but they are definitely bigger names than Further and Kings of Leon like they had just two years ago.
Yeah, everyone needs to make sure to bring a hoodie for night time because it gets downright cold in GGP.
Getting more and more excited about next weekend.
This year has legends. Stevie wonder , Neil young , Metallica . Add sigur ros legends of post rock , jack white , foo fighters , beck . And an awesome undercard . Comparing last years lineup to this isn't even close
It was fucking freezing last year at night. Bring a beanie and sweatshirt for sure.
I'm also looking for an extra for a friend, if anyone has one, please let me know.
no shame in going alone man
The thought of going alone is much too ominous.
I'm selling 2 tickets to Sharon Van Etten at Rickshaw Stop on Friday. $40 for the pair.
i just got served
Yeah, I'd say it's better looking than at least last 2 years. But I loved the inaugural year though. That was stellar. And 2009 was stacked.
On the subject of weather: chiapet is right. The park has its own climate and weather. It will definitely be wet in the evening and probably pretty cold all day. I'm definitely packing my layers.

So one of the people in my group is a 20 year old. Bummer, but what are some fun options to do after the fest gets out, besides going to a bar and leaving him in the car.
Fuck, I really didn't want to bring a backpack, but it sounds like it's necessary. Anybody have any extra locker space?![]()
i am so fucking excited for this festival
what's everybody hitting as far as aftershows/parties? my group procrastinated and missed out on Grandaddy (which only a few of us wanted to go to). Looking over resident advisor now for the weekend... looking really good!
Seriously so much to choose from... some of the techno-sf-heads want to weigh in? I know nothing about the venues but I see quite a few I'd love to hit.

5/12 - Acid Mothers Temple - Casbah
5/13 OoOoOo - Soda Bar
5/19 Black Angels / Hanni El Khatib - Belly Up
5/29 Junip - Troubadour
5/30 John Talabot - Echoplex
6/2 Bjork - Hollywood Palladium
ods.., are you 21+? I think a few of us are going to the Atom TM + Tobias show. The venue is pretty good (really good sound & usually a good crowd). http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?390338
I usually avoid 1015 or 103 Harriet unless it's something I can't live without seeing. Vessel is pretty terrible crowd wise but they do pull some good lineups. Monarch, Public Works, Mighty, Beatbox, 222 Hyde are probably where you're going to find things you're more interested in.
Do the shows usually sell out in advance or are you able to just show up and get in?
Yes, we'll all be 21. Thanks for the input, that show sounds nice.
