All of the bus horror stories I've heard from friends and family all seemed to have one thing in common, they all occurred on the 19. Granted this as only been like 3 of them but still interesting enough.

My first month in SF, I took the 19 to a job interview. On the way there, someone SHOT at someone who was at the bus stop the bus had just been pulling up to. I don't think the guy actually got shot, but the driver floored it and left the people at the stop. Can't believe I still went to the interview, especially since I had to walk the last bit. Can't remember what company it was, some dotcom that was down by hunter's point. They were hiring for night shift, can you imagine? (Like I said, I'd lived here a month and didn't know any better from the address).

Er, the buses are totally safe, though.

It's a thing. My friend and I used to take what she called "Muni adventures." You'd take a bus line you weren't very familiar with, and ride it in one direction until you saw something interesting. Get off, explore that area, then find a different line to board. For some reason, we frequently found ourselves around West Portal.
