I've just been hearing a lot of the same things I think we all have. Stuff like Beck and Neil Young Its just all things that turn me off of the headliners. One of the things that turns me off the most is the strong chance of the Foo Fighters headlining... I would definitely skip their set. Also Metallica makes sense because of Lolla IMO. Ugh, could you imagine? Neil Young Foo Fighters Metallica? Fail.

I would have been more specific had I had something more important to add. You're the one who was pushing me to name names.

after whispering about a strong 'intersting' undercard you waffled on about all the headliners that would put you off. I don't think she was asking you to name any names you felt like throwing out there.

I meant that all the rumors I and others have heard about the headliners makes me hope the undercard is better. Because I haven't heard many good headlining rumors. Sorry for the confusion.

Rumors are just that...rumors. Before you edited your post, you came off as having some inside knowledge. Obviously, you do not. Best to just leave the swirl of thoughts spinning around your head to yourself. Because nobody outside of your head gives a shit.

I would say that Radiohead is pretty unlikely since they will have been in the states in March, April, June, and July. Them coming back in August doesn't seem likely.

I agree that Springsteen would be a great headliner. Also I think Stevie Wonder could be possible since he is playing other festivals this summer. Add Jack White and Beck and I think you got something as far as top of the bill names. Hopefully Beck would still be considered a subheadliner, but I'm not sure if Jack White is a headliner or subheadliner. If we get even two or three of these names then I can't complain.

Justice and Passion Pit are playing Red Rocks the week before OSL so I would see them as likely as well. Justice could play in one of the Girl Talk/Deadmau5 spots from last year.

    edit:

Even if Foo Fighters headlined, they would probably put an electronic act against them on the Twin Peaks stage like they did last year with Muse v Girl Talk or Arcade Fire v Deadmau5.

Neil Young would probably get an alternative twin peaks headliner like Phish v Shins last year.

Also, I'm thinking that Primus returns this year since they are not doing a proper SF show this tour and they are playing Santa Cruz, Modesto, and basically every place but SF.

Still hoping to see Thee oh Sees and Girls as part of the local act contingent.

    ^ I concur.

Personally, I'd love it if the Foos were up against Justice, that'd be a great way to cull the herd.

If Neil Young played, he would for sure play the Main stage. Whatever headlines OSL will have far too similar a fan base to have conflict. Can you imagine Neil Young v. Springsteen or Pearl jam? I'd say he's more likely to fill a fogerty/al green slot at sunset.

    Wat.

No one is arguing that Neil Young would be up against another headliner. He would absolutely headline on the main stage. And bring all of us to sweet tears of joy.

Jesus christ...it's like the fucking twilight zone in this thread. Every 3-4 pages someone vomits up the same rumors or baseless assumptions that's been discussed over and over already. Is it too much to just chill the fuck out and await the lineup. Or, at least, toss out something of substance (whether sourced or new tour info that can be triangulated).

Shouldn't many/most of you be in Coachella threads discussing what to bring and whether or not infants are a good idea or some shit anyway?

    Yes, exactly.

Neil Young playing anywhere but mainstage-headline? Foolish to even consider.

I edited it because I realized I was implying something I didn't wish to. Just in here speculating with everyone else about a lineup that we've all been waiting for!

Ah, I thought "get an alternative headliner" meant be the alt headliner (rather than playing the same time).

I guess I should have said indie rock instead of alternative. I'm an old.

So Duran Duran is playing two nights in Saratoga on august 8th and 9th. I don't know if that makes them more likely or less likely. I would be down to see them at OSL. But not sure if they would be a headliner.

Only person who can top that fogerty act from last year would be Tom Waits. Really really wishing for that to happen.
