Honestly, I loved the hotel we stayed at for EDC last year. Nellis Inn & Suites. It's right by the venue, and even though they have some ridiculous rules (one car in the parking lot per room), the rooms were spacious, had full kitchens, and the price was right for us. This year we'll probably stay on the strip because we missed that experience and are willing to spend a little more, but Nellis was good to us. Plus, they have a bar that's open 24 hours on site!
Spring chicken, stirring in the coupe!
I got my ticket!!! SWAG!

Man, I didn't realize that EDC was awarded the "Internation Festival of the Year" award at the 2011 DJ Awards. That's crazy. With the success of last years event, and with the announcement that they will be doing club events the entire week leading up to the event, I'm very curious how this years will be. I have faith, don't let me down Insomniac.
Only scary thing about these events are reading the FB comments on its page.
I'm glad this "crazy outrageous price"of 240 + hotel and what not is too much for most of the people posting on the FB page to afford.
@Casey
I found some awesome suite villages for around $100-150/night and may roll with that, I just stayed at the Hard Rock Suite Towers for 2011 and I enjoyed my stay thoroughly, would love to find a great deal with them thats not 350/night on the weekend, last year I got it at 140/night for the weekends.
one week before my 21st birthday. Just my luck

When I saw the hotel prices skyrocket a few days after the EDC dates were announced, I thought NO THANKS. Next year, me and my group are straying away from the Strip this year and renting a house. There are a shit ton on vrbo.com and similar websites, we locked down a nice 3BD/2BA with a private pool/BBQ grill in it's backyard and only $130 a night. It's designed for 6 people, we'll probably bring 10 and a couple air mattresses. The best part is that it's only ten minutes away from the Speedway.
Upon reflection, my group realized that last year we only really used the Strip for food and for buying overpriced drinks, so no one had big objections to getting a house this year and having our own kitchen and have our own private pool parties during the day, drinking and eating for cheap. Don't get me wrong, I love Vegas trips for casinos and clubs and all the usual things to do, but that should be saved for another time and trip, as the EDC trip can do without staying on the Strip, for me and my group, anyway.

Having a home base at the end of the night makes a world of difference. Part of the reason I skipped Sunday was because it felt too amazing to lounge around at the house chilling by the pool and smoking bowls haha.
I could do a house there, but I enjoyed the hotel experience. Nothing beats a chicken fried steak breakfast after dancing all night, and you don't have to do much other than press a button and request it.
Plus I got hooked on roulette recently.
Last year, Pete and I stayed at Rumors, right across the street from Hard Rock. It was a little over $100 per night and it was really nice. Parking sucked, but then Pete has that big truck, and the drive getting off the strip to the freeway was a pain in the ass. After they announced the dates for next year, Pete tried to get a room there again, only to find out that somebody booked the whole hotel that weekend... Hello, after party??? Anyway, he's searching now for something closer to the venue. (He claims that we aren't getting any younger...)
A 21st birthday celebrated in Vegas with a splash of EDC would be an awesome way to start your drunken adulthood!
1. Run to a nice patch of grass on the fields and lay face down.
2. Tilt your head ninety degrees with your forehead temple resting on your forearm and watch people through the vision pocket right underneath your armpit hair.
3. Do this for a few hours until you get comfortable.
A Daft Punk thread containing 'nothing of substance'. How bout that.
I bought the presale tickets but going to wait for the lineup to drop to decide whether I go or not.
Heading Back (and i saved 40 bucks; thank you presale!)It was soooooo worth it last year!

My life is now complete.
Our EDC tickets and motel room ($46.00 a night bitches) have been handled...
Nothing else matters as I have accomplished my goal, my main mission in life.
ps...I spent my 2nd weekend of Coachella ticket money for EDC tickets.

3-day pass purchased!
earlybirds will be sold out before the weekend, according to insomniac.
So by selling the tickets this far in advance, is Pasquelle doing kinda like what Paul did with Coachella (except he only sold tickets for a week) and seeing how many tickets he can sell and how much interest there is, and then after seeing the interest and potential revenue does he then try and book potential top artists based on interest and potential revenue from early ticket sales?
PS I have no idea what I'm talking about

Mystr-E and Mars bro.
No, they will just sell as many tickets as they can, and not announce the line up til 2 weeks before like this year. People will be forced to go even if its 85% overlap/repeat from this one. And Insomniac has a budget, just like any other festival. Just cause theyre making some money right now, doesnt mean its going into the artist budget to try and get other acts.
Just wanna put this question out there:...
...how amazing was this past EDC?
I'ma ball at the mall shuttin' down the sea wall
i had a fucking blast last year. kinda pissed this year is going to cost SOO much more, but after last year i'm not going to pass this up.
I call bullshit on this. This only happened last year when they were no doubt scrambling to secure a venue and still make it happen what with all the drama the city was putting up over raves at the coliseum. It's pretty obvious that this year they have the venue locked down. Last year was a smashing success given the circumstances and there is no reason why the lineup won't be out in a reasonable timeframe (by EDC standards). I bet we will see flyers at Coachella just like we used to get in years past. Insomniac isn't Go Ventures.
