EDC looked like nowhere near a sold out event last year - good luck thinking you will be able to ditch your tickets for double the price.

Wow the hotel rates are already getting jacked up. Imperial Palace (where I stayed last year) is $199 a night for Friday/Saturday. The weekends adjacent to EDC are $99/night on Fri/Sat. Mother fuckers.

EDC - skrillex = fairly badass
Ugh, hotels are going to be what really fucks the budget up for EDC....
Pretty happy about $125 tickets though!

Doesn't sound like Kaskade has a problem with Las Vegas
“I believe this is just the beginning,” Kaskade says. “You’re going to have to build bigger nightclubs. … We need a place that holds 9,000, 10,000, 12,000 people.” His voice rises with excitement. “I think those things are on the horizon. I think we’ve surpassed pretty much anywhere in the world, and we’re only just getting started. That’s so Vegas, though. It’s like bigger, better and badder than everybody else.”

My prediction for headliners:
Kaskade
deadmau5
Justice
I think Justice is a streach but if they have end up having somewhat of a decent album with a visually great live show then it's not so far fetched. Plus I imagine they are probably cheaper to book then the usual suspects. If not Justice then I say Armin Van Buuren.
Looks like my group wants to avoid the jacked up prices of hotels this year and do one of those house rentals. Can any wise Las Vegas locals (or intelligent frequent visitors) advise on good safe areas/neighborhoods to stay in and bad areas to avoid? Preferably the closer to the strip, the better, since much of my group will still want to get their tourist fix during the day. If there exists such a neighborhood that is relatively safe and walking distance to the Strip, (extra points if it's near one of the EDC shuttle resort pickups) this would be perfect.

Around the strip you're pretty much only going to find shady neighborhoods, especially north of the Stratosphere. I don't know much about vacation rentals homes, but I'm sure you can find something relatively nice.. My advice would be to look at some of the condo towers that have been going up and see if they have like week long rentals.
4 queens has rooms for $65 a night
EDC is the weekend right before Finals (UCs)... :/
