He mixes everything live. And puts on one hell of a performance.
If you could compare him to anyone, I'd say Z-trip. Most definitely better than Girltalk.
Make this happen for 2012!!

and if you are comparing z-trip to pretty lights... then you need to brush up on your shit cuz HA
the music is what its all about, you love it just like i love it.
i feel like Pretty Lights are wearing out their welcome. i feel like they're everywhere these days.

Not enough for you to know its only 1 person.
used to be 2 until dereks ego got too huge and just wanted his lights to be prettier... hahahaha

I'd like a further explanation of how Pretty Light's consistent shit sounding warple-bro-womp sound is comparable to Z-Trip.

Zach is the OGB, Derek is making moves in the bro community but hes just a foot soldier at this point.
I think it's "hand soldiers." Cuz the djs use the hands.

haha. Pretty lights is a good producer, and i enjoy listening to his tracks here and there. I really feel like this guy drops the ball live though. Plus everyone is always like "OMGZ pretty lights set was the best all weekend!" but he just gets kinda boring. I bet he will be at coachella this year.
the ztrip comparisons were unwarranted and I agree 100% that some of his new music has taken on that awful skrillex like glitch/wobble. But if you saw him in 2010 you cant say that wasn't a good set.
haven't seen him recently so I cant speak to his new show/performance, but compared to a lot of the artists that can be booked for the sahara id welcome him with open arms. Especially if he represents some of the bro crowd because unlike 95% of that shit, Pretty Lights is at least tolerable. rather have pretty lights than the abomination that now calls itself dubstep. Hopefully GV wises up and moves more DnB from the oasis to the sahara next year
he's good, but i generally get kinda tired of it after about 30 mins
whatever. let him close out the Sahara while the Stones are on the main stage.
Iron Maiden, Boards of Canada and Underworld for 2013
Best part about coachella is he only has an hour+ and you can leave whenever you want. I did just talk to a friend who has seen Pretty Lights a few times and she said the new material is definitely not as good but still a fun show with a great laser setup. Always down for a good light show in the tent.
I only compared him to ztrip cause of the heavy sampling. He doesn't scratch. He doesn't really do much to warrant it, but I don't know many other DJ's that still create the music they make live.
plenty of producers mix live, pretty lights isnt doing anything new and exciting. Also agree with the he gets boring after 30 mins comment.
