How is it a "snub" for coachella to not book a talentless bitch who, by her own admission, just "stands there and sings" poorly?
Lana Del Rey - "Born to Die" Album Cliff Notes
(for anyone that doesn't want to throw away an hour of their life like I just did)

- "Ahhhhhhhhh: thats how you sang it"
- "Now my life is sweet like cinnamon, like a fuckin' dream I'm living in"..."pick me up and take me like a vitamin." WHY? "Cause my body's sweet like sugar venom, oh yeah!" OH! OK!
- "Pabst Blue Ribbon on ice"
LYRICAL HIGHLIGHTS:
"I wish I was dead"
I don't get all the vitriol towards her music, she certainly won't be on my years best list but I'm enjoying the album. Seems to me like people hate her hype more than her music.
Oh Lord is this album terrible. "Video Games," despite the overexposure, remains a stunner and "Blue Jeans" is decent. The rest is utter rot. And I'm one of the few who liked her and thought she still had potential.
They know what is what, but they don't know what is what, they just strut. What the fuck?
yea i was going through old youtube videos of lizzy grant for whatever reason last night
def hotter before the implants in her face
mja: "i would make a great effeminate hick-accented puppet"
The album is not that bad. I definitely can see why critics aren't impressed by it but it is not "terrible." I really enjoy the album coming from a personal standpoint, but even being unbiased, at the very least, it's an average album.
*whispers* Pabst Blue Ribbon on ice.
I feel pretty, oh so pretty....
The more recent promo stuff seems like they are trying to slowly come away from the whole Gangster Nancy Sinatra vibe they have been trying so hard to convince everyone she had in the first place. Feh.
Those long pointy nails are nast.
2005, 2007, 2011, 2012 W1, 2012 W2, and now 2013 W1 & 2013 W2!!!
Coachella needs more long pointy nailed performers. Who cares what they sound like.
She did much better on Letterman tonight than she did on SNL last weekend.
Yeah, Letterman was all over her like creepy pedo grandpa at the end, too.
I love how he already had a copy of the vinyl when it's not even out for a few more weeks in the US (per amazon).
2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012b, 2013a
I really liked "Born to die" (the song) when I first heard it. Then it got old real quick, and I didn't buy the album.
Yay me.
With a bit of time, I think she'll redeem herself live

Oh my god, this FACT MAG quote:
At times, notably in Born to Die‘s first half, it’s a little too perfect, with songs meticulous to the point where they become sterile, but when it starts to find form, I can’t think of an album since My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy that was this big and sounded this good.

I just hope she does some major rehearsals for her show at Amoeba on Tuesday.
I listened to this album. Does every track need strings? Why video games is the big song I have no idea. She could be pretty great live with some confidence and practice. O and she's beautiful.
This sums my thoughts up pretty well
Why is pop music the only art form that still inspires such arrantly stupid discussion? The debates that surround authenticity have no relationship to popular music as it’s been practiced for more than a century. Artists write material, alone or with assistance, revise it, and then present a final work created with the help of professionals who are trained for specific and relevant production tasks. This makes popular music similar to film, television, visual art, books, dance, and related areas like food and fashion. And yet no movie review begins, “Meryl Streep, despite not being a Prime Minister, is reasonably convincing in ‘The Iron Lady.’ ”

She was MUCH better on Letterman. But still isn't good.
Classy of SNL to defend her in a comedic skit. They didn't have to do that. Bon Iver will need no such defense.
