Thread: Lana Del Rey

    Default Lana Del Rey

This gal just makes me want to sip a whiskey and drag a cigarette under warm desert skies. Great vibes.

Would love to see her for 2012. She's definitely getting some buzz around town.

This has to be the most accelerated hype and backlash cycle in recent memory.

I'm not particularly interested in her past or her perceived authenticity, but I am fascinated that the entire indiesphere now moves at such a rapid pace that there can be these kinds of debates about artists before anyone has even heard a third track from them. Her music -- or at least what little any of us have heard -- doesn't strike me as anything particularly memorable; she's hitting bloop singles on material that Chan Marshall was crushing for homers on The Greatest.

I see why there is backlash. People feel like they are being sold something and I mean it does seem like there is some sort of PR machine behind Lana Del Rey. The question is why is she getting so much attention over someone like Grimes who makes much more interesting music? You are right though people on either side need to chill out, there are two songs out right now.

And here i was just enjoying her music while this entire hype-blacklash storm was going on.

Oh, and there are a few more songs that have been floating around, "Kill Kill" is definitely great.

Exactly. It's all as artificial as, well, you know.

There's a ton of buzz about her, and the tunes are popular enough that I could definitely see her there.

How is this a bad thing? One of my favorite sayings ever is "Have you ever been so happy you could just shit?"

Holy shit, I was JUST about to say the same thing. "Blue Jeans" sounds like a really, really bad cover of "Wicked Game."

http://earbudspodcast.blogspot.com/ has a review of her track. I really like her shit. I wouldn't mind sitting near teenagers with skinny jeans and cloves to listen to her.

It'd be a good mid-day time killer if nothing else is going on during her timeslot.

Although I could definitely deal without the guy (he ruined the song for me), I love the backing band. This could definitely be a great mid-day show.
