Radiohead & No Doubt? Not all that bad if true, but if Coldplay is that third headliner, I would be a little disappointed.

No Doubt have decided to delay their new album because they do not want to give their fans material that is not up to standard.

The rockers were due to release their new record later this year but have postponed it because it is not ready.

The group last released an album in 2001 before they went their own ways three years later to concentrate on solo projects.

But although they have been busy in the recording studio, the new album will not be out until next year.

An official statement said: “"Ideally our new record would be coming out this year but it's just not ready yet.

“We don't want to rush this album just to get it out. This collection of songs means everything to us and our only priority right now is to make sure that it's the best album we can possibly make. There is still more work for us to do.

"We love our fans and are doing this for your ears and want you to know how much we appreciate your patience and support."

As reported in August, Scottish electronic label Soma Records have unearthed an early Daft Punk recording from 1994 called "Drive", which will appear on the Soma Records 20 Years three-disc compilation, which drops on September 19. The thudding, relentless track premiered on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show today. Listen to it now, via 107.7 The End. UPDATE: The official stream from Soma is embedded above.

In other Daft Punk news, the MuchMusic show "The Wedge", hosted by Fucked Up's Damian Abraham, points out that songwriting legend Paul Williams, who wrote such classics as "We've Only Just Begun", "Let Me Be the One", and "The Rainbow Connection", has revealed that he is working on a collaboration with the French electro gods. Williams has mentioned the collaboration in two different interviews, and it's mentioned in his profile on the Songwriters Hall of Fame website.

a friend of mine works for Eminem in New York. I asked her if she had heard anything about coachella, she said no, but her boss is in europe so she'd get back to me. she filled me in about bonnaroo and what day he was playing Lolla so this should put the Em rumors to rest one way or the other.

Also talk about some French magazine or newspaper that said that Panda Bear is collaborating with Daft Punk as well. Haven't really looked into it, but have seen people talking about it on the internet

The original rumor for the Panda Bear thing started around April from French blog and about a month later there was an article in on a French music site with Panda Bear speaking of the possible collaboration. Here's the part on DP Google translated:

"Can you tell us about your collaboration with Daft Punk? I am an avid fan of their music and their concert in Coachella 2006 is one of the best live I've seen in my life. Originally, I had asked them to do a remix of a song from my solo album Tomboy, what they answered me that they did more things like that. And then they offered to work with them on their new project. It is this: we try to find the right time. Also in the original rumor with Panda Bear was talk of some of the people behind the studio production of Thriller being involved. But the Paul Williams talk is definitely the most legit thing to come out, since most of the other rumors were founded on French sites and blogs of unknown credibility.

Yeah, but this time the rumor in question actually came from another website, and not a wishlist thread on this very message board, so that's the difference.

Also, a "fuelled by desire" list would be the same 4 or 5 names every year, so it would not help anything other than the drive the mania up a couple levels every year.
